NM3 0 Posted February 13, 2022 (edited) Hi! I have a genuine Datejust 41 126300 and am wondering whether it is possible to buy a high quality replica 316L case and install my original movement into it. The reason I'm asking is that I happen to be allergic to 904L steel, but no 316L. Please share any ideas. - what factory does it best? - any difficulties/bottlenecks to install the original movement? thanks! APjumbo 3,031 Posted February 13, 2022 I’m not a Rolex expert but some things to keep in mind are that the cheaper reps that use 316L use a 2824 or 2836 movement. If you try to stick your gen movement into this case the crown/stem height will be different and not work. You need to look for a rep that uses a clone gen like movement to get the stem height correct, but it is likely that those higher end reps use 904L steel. I’m not kidding as I say this but have you considered a layer of packing tape or clear film which comes on the caseback of new watches between your wrist and the case. What about a nato strap or bund.
