Pam advice 1

Recommended Posts

just visiting

I am looking for advice regarding Pams.

- I am tempted to but trying to avoid buying a cheapie at $99, but don't think I am ready for a super customized $500+ version either

This is what I am visualizing:

- PVD, DLC

- leather strap

- Great lume

- Date window

- power reserve

- 28.8k movt

- $100-$300

- center second hand (not subdial)...I know this is rare...so this is not a must have

- don't care for chrono, but ok if it is there

- Not sure if something like this even exists, but I am sure the experts here can tell me in an instant. I am a total noob who has just learnt some basic lingo and drooled over several watch pics.

Please suggest good deals from members/dealers (links would be great)

PAM 028, DSN has one with swiss movt (at least he did) but it is above your price range.

also, if he still has them. You may want to combine your budget to get it.

Many. PAM 063 GMT, PAM 029, for example.

But I'd recommend PAM 288, best PAM ever.

What makes the 288 so good, L?

3. Chrono function with central seconds hand.

4. Good movement.

5. Great dial.

I will definitely look the 288 up. Any suggestions as to whch dealer has the best option value/quality without it being a cheapie? How much should I pay?

(Link will be much appreciated.....)

Thanks HD.

Will look his stuff up from home.

Was trying to surf in from work. Got my hand slapped by IT. They said it was a "fake" watch website. No kidding ! Who would have thought?

All the dealers shop in the same places so can get the same watches. (Mostly - there are some exceptions, such as Robert who is in Thailand, and DSN who makes his own.)

As the phrase goes, 'pick your dealer then pick your watch'

Not exactly what you look for because it's a quartz but dang, it looks good. It's a 288 like Luthier suggested. I couldn't resist it myself and got one from mary at WatchInternational.

It has the center hand and the greatest looking blue reflection on the crystal. The price was in your range. On the down side, it is gold plated (can wear off in heavy usage) and is a fantasy model but unless you know a lot about PAMs, you won't be able to tell.

If you like it, you would send the picture to Mary and she would go from there.

thanks myaz. Appreciate the input. I am going to make a list and print them out and then look at them side by side. I am new to this and the model numbers are getting mixed up in my head.

Swan neck REGULATOR, you meant?

I advice you to study this website:

http://www.paneraisource.com/

Then choose your watch, and send picture with PAM number to a few dealers, they'll find it for you.

Or you can search dealers websites.

Do your homework, please.

I didn't want to start a new thread but I guess this can tie in to this members questions as it could be a decider.

BUT!

Reps with Blue reflection in the light. What can be done to take that off? Leaving a nice clear (no blue) glass?

I know in burning sunlight mine turns bright blue which I don't like! - I also saw it on a Hublot rep on the weekend in my local shopping centre which just looked cheap and nasty.

Is there a procedure that us members can do or is it something that needs to be sent to a dealer or modder?

I hope this post is helpful not just to me but to newer members who might know about the blueness of some glass on watches.

Most of the gens have blue AR, some light blue, some heavy blue. I personally like it.

If you don't like it - just take steel wool and use it on AR coat. Easy job.

Is there a way to find out what gens do have the blue AR?
