greg_r 83 Posted July 6, 2009 These wristies threads have been encouraging me to wear watches I haven't been wearing lately, so let's keep it going =] Starting the week off with a watch I don't normally wear to work as it's a bit too dressy. Just had the urge this morning... Astbury Skeleton.
alphakazi 0 Posted July 6, 2009 ahh, the skeletor watch, always liked that one greg (for a cheapy too) - is that sub dial running secs I'd like to find one of these things with a 42+mm bez - that's what.. 38mm?
greg_r 83 Posted July 6, 2009 It's 43.5mm - only marginally smaller than a PAM but somewhat thinner and a lot lighter in weight. Yup - that's secs@9, it's a decorated Asian 6497 movement.
alphakazi 0 Posted July 6, 2009 ah, no shit - I was mistaken this one for another skeletor you have where'd ya get this one? 43.5mm... I'm interested now - oh god, what are these forums doing to me again... :jingoism:

List price is £99, but I managed to pick it up for £49 + shipping on a regular auction (worth trying an offer at that kinda level - he usually has the make offer option enabled). I think Scone managed to pick one up at the same kinda price. ISTR AD bought one too. Bloody good value considering it's a gen :jingoism: Look for dealer so-many-watches on eBay UK

repfish 0 Posted July 7, 2009 Haven't worn this one in quite a while, but figured it deserved an outing... Tag SLR: Always liked this one, had my eye on the black faced one for a while now, is that the cheaper thinner version or the more expensive A7750 ver? KinCaidk 0 Posted July 7, 2009 The daily beater: I think I need to get me one of those SOH too. think your BCE could do with a bath...........he he I actually think that this looks way better than a brand new and clean BCE. it has a certain patina to it :P
greg_r 83 Posted July 7, 2009 Always liked this one, had my eye on the black faced one for a while now, is that the cheaper thinner version or the more expensive A7750 ver? It's the quartz version and was very inexpensive. Bought it from a little-known but reliable dealer on CQout. Given that there's no running seconds on this watch, there aren't any obvious 'tells' that it's quartz. The strap it came with was lousy, but I replaced it with a better quality version I found on eBay for next to nothing. Even the lume is pretty reasonable on this one. @KinCaidk: Tudor looking pretty damned schweet! :P
KinCaidk 0 Posted July 7, 2009 another pic where the "carbon" isn't quite as obvious
houndoggie 58 Posted July 7, 2009 Greg r- you've got some nice quartz pieces... Today, the 229 (with newly modded CG by me-my weekend project) Before:
greg_r 83 Posted July 7, 2009 Greg r- you've got some nice quartz pieces... Thanks - I've only got the two, but they're both pretty decent, despite the low cost. Today, the 229 (with newly modded CG by me-my weekend project) Nice job on the mod - the 229 looks great
AustinTech 0 Posted July 7, 2009 Houndoggie - you could get about $1,350 for that on RG. Cause you spent weekend time doing the mod. You've seen this one before. But that's the way it is with gens, you don't get a big selection...
