New week wristies - w/c 06 July

Recommended Posts

greg_r

These wristies threads have been encouraging me to wear watches I haven't been wearing lately, so let's keep it going =]

Starting the week off with a watch I don't normally wear to work as it's a bit too dressy. Just had the urge this morning...

Astbury Skeleton.

I'd like to find one of these things with a 42+mm bez - that's what.. 38mm?

It's 43.5mm - only marginally smaller than a PAM but somewhat thinner and a lot lighter in weight.

Yup - that's secs@9, it's a decorated Asian 6497 movement.

Yeah, you were thinking of my AP Jules Audemars, which is 40mm.

The Astbury I picked up via a dealer on eBay UK. List price is £99, but I managed to pick it up for £49 + shipping on a regular auction (worth trying an offer at that kinda level - he usually has the make offer option enabled). I think Scone managed to pick one up at the same kinda price. ISTR AD bought one too. Bloody good value considering it's a gen :jingoism:

Look for dealer so-many-watches on eBay UK

It's always the way: I wasn't very keen on the Planet Ocean when I first saw it but I'm really warming to it. Nice, Harley.

PAM 111 for me today, after seeing all the PAMs in last weeks wristie thread.

Always liked this one, had my eye on the black faced one for a while now, is that the cheaper thinner version or the more expensive A7750 ver?

I actually think that this looks way better than a brand new and clean BCE. it has a certain patina to it :P

It's the quartz version and was very inexpensive. Bought it from a little-known but reliable dealer on CQout. Given that there's no running seconds on this watch, there aren't any obvious 'tells' that it's quartz.

The strap it came with was lousy, but I replaced it with a better quality version I found on eBay for next to nothing. Even the lume is pretty reasonable on this one.

@KinCaidk: Tudor looking pretty damned schweet! :P

Thanks - I've only got the two, but they're both pretty decent, despite the low cost.

Nice job on the mod - the 229 looks great

Houndoggie - you could get about $1,350 for that on RG. Cause you spent weekend time doing the mod.

You've seen this one before. But that's the way it is with gens, you don't get a big selection...
