Redfire1066 11,210 Posted February 17, 2023 Takes me back this … about 25 years ago in the workshop I built a little single piston air driven engine with all the functioning bells & whistles ….. …. I am sure it is still hidden away in a box somewhere . Glad he referred so specifically to the “swarf”. …. While it seems a lot of metal waste as a percentage of the job it is minuscule compared to say …. manufacturing a M6 or M8 bolt on a centre lathe …. 15 years ago, after many swear words and a few attempts I could probably have performed these smaller machining tasks … but today lack of patience combined with skill fade and a ships workshop with an abundance of engineering spares makes me lazy and these days I simply reach out for a replacement. Besides, I would have to align the Hubble Telescope to see the job of work….. Great little video though .

But then again, it makes perfect sense - obviously there must be more than one no-arms foot-powered watchsmith, given the population of the entire world.
