chriszammett 0 Posted July 7, 2009 here it is, next to my 111h initial impressions are good. My 111h was a reasonably expensive rep from PT and it feels slightly weightier next to the PVD. The crown guard and lever also feel more substantial. Apart from that the PVD holds up well. Obviously the strap is awful, but that's to be expected. If someone could shed some light on the two movements it would help me as a newcomer to the rep game. I won't say what the 111h 'should be' suffice to say i paid a reasonable amount of money for it. The PVD was cheap, so i expect the movement is likewise. anyway, on to some pics. PVD 111h
JohnG 41 Posted July 7, 2009 Nice! I just got a PVD Pam Radiomir homage today in the mail - will post up pics later - my first PVD and I like it!
greg_r 83 Posted July 7, 2009 Your 111h looks pretty much identical to mine ($300 from Ruby in my case). "Swinese" mov't with swan neck. Very nice watch. The PVD version looks good too - the standard A6497 isn't quite as pretty, but they're just as accurate and reliable - I've got a couple of 'em. I sometimes wonder why bother spending more - the budget models are getting so damn good these days. Good buy! Don't forget to take the plastic off the crystal btw
chriszammett 0 Posted July 7, 2009 ha ha- I won't! Just not wearing it until strap arrives!! is Swiss Unitas 6497 a correct description of the movement (in the 111h)
greg_r 83 Posted July 7, 2009 ha ha- I won't! Just not wearing it until strap arrives!! is Swiss Unitas 6497 a correct description of the movement (in the 111h) None of 'em are entirely Swiss - they're Swiss with some replacement Asian parts (mainly the bridges to copy the modifications that Panerai do to the ETA version). 'Swinese' we call 'em
JohnG 41 Posted July 7, 2009 ha ha- I won't! Just not wearing it until strap arrives!! is Swiss Unitas 6497 a correct description of the movement (in the 111h) I hear that the rep "Swiss" are better described as "Swinese". But you can buy a gen Swiss 6497 on Otto Frei for about $140 and up... http://www.ofrei.com/page206.html
