NH_Vintage 115 Posted April 26, 2023 Hopefully a light hearted conversation starter... What do you consider the ideal number for a Watch collection? Sent from my SM-A217F using Tapatalk

FudgyDocker 3,509 Posted April 26, 2023 Different answers from different people here. You'd get answers from some as '1', and some on here have over 300... Glad you used the word 'ideal', and not 'sensible'! Personally, I have about 46, reps and gens, and I think that may be too many. Doesn't stop me wanting to buy more, though! APjumbo 3,032 Posted April 26, 2023 8 ……..of each major brand. Except submariners, they get their own 8 slots So about 72 is ideal Maybe room for 3 Casio so make it an even 75. This isn’t counting parts watches in case you need a spare movement or crown. Yah, 75 for sure
Abe Fromen 1,623 Posted April 26, 2023 As many as you can afford without compromising your financial status or your marriage. I once had close to 20 but now down to a slowly rotating five or six.
NH_Vintage 115 Posted April 26, 2023 I tend to suffer from buyers guilt, ie if I have too many watches sitting unworn I need to start a spring clean.Definitely considering slimming down to 6 ish pieces.Sent from my SM-A217F using Tapatalk

Mystery Shopper 5,887 Posted April 27, 2023 They add up quick. A couple of Pams, Rolex, Omega, APs, PPs & Breitlings and all of a sudden, there is a dozen.

edwinowl 180 Posted April 27, 2023 I’ve been up and down the numbers for years now. Had max about 30 at one time then got into building over on HF. Then that fad waned and started gen collecting. I feel about 6 is the right number with a mix of quality. 2 nice gens. 2 builds and a couple of high end reps. We’re all different I suppose.
brang1 4,074 Posted April 27, 2023 if you don't have 27.5 watches you are not serious- this hobby is way out of reach for you

NH_Vintage 115 Posted April 27, 2023 A little trick I've learned is, get someone to buy them as gifts for you.... They don't count as numbers in the collection, right? Thus leading to adding more of your own purchases to the SOTC Sent from my SM-A217F using Tapatalk

Hot Little Xixi 12 Posted April 27, 2023 (edited) I'm buying reps the way other girls buy shoes... I started out two years ago admiring my boyfriend's Rolex reps and got the bug from him. It's an STD I guess... I had one Rolex rep and a one-watch winder. Then I realized I needed different Rolexes to go with different outfits...I bought a four-watch winder. Then another four-watch winder. Now I just bought my third four-watch winder. When he complains about me buying another rep I put in on my wrist and show him my winding technique... I'm a really bad girl... Edited April 27, 2023 by Hot Little Xixi Just found the perfect emoji
Michel78 8 Posted April 27, 2023 I think 365 watches is an acceptable amount But more seriously 1/2 daily with steel strap, 1 elegant on leather, 1 you don't mind damaging, 1 more fancy seem good collection
docholiday08 3 Posted April 28, 2023 Enough to fill the bathtub with....then maybe then I'll stop buying.....MAYBE

Hot Little Xixi 12 Posted May 3, 2023 I suppose you could buy 20 reps of the exact same watch, just from different factories and with different movements so your wife thinks you only have one rep if she's got you pussywhipped.
Hot Little Xixi 12 Posted May 3, 2023 Oh, it does work. A pussywhipped guy who flies RC helicopters with my boyfriend has several helicopters. All of them are yellow ( like him) and his wife thinks he only has one helicopter because she always sees him with a yellow one. My boyfriend said they're not even the same type helicopters but she doesn't know one from another. Pathetic...
