Members might be interested in the replacement costs, from Rolex to repair my GMT Batman.

I was offered the option of a new strap @ £1600 that would have brought the total to £5730.00 but I declined. It wasn’t damaged and will need a polish.

Service £700

Replacement bezel and disk in blue/black-£410

Replacement case middle £2450.00

Replacement sapphire crystal-£115

Replacement dial and hands, by exchange-£455

Total £4130

Option strap -£1600

Grand total £5730.00

I think it makes good reps excellent value!

No. Complete accident. I hid it on the back of a wood burning cast iron stove.

Unfortunately the stove was lit and was burning furiously and had been for hours when I arrived.

The glass and bezel had dislodged completely, there was the melted remains of sealant on the glass. It was a nightmare.

The watch was still going!

Its quite difficult with gen watches. We’d had a break in and they had taken everything that was easily had- no looking behind this or in there etc so I’d taken to try and find places that seemed safe.

Its insured so all good. I nearly lost it last year but I won’t tell you the story of the rats……..

@paulro  Do you have home & contents insurance?  Or any other insurance that may be applicable?  When did you buy it?  Did you pay by credit card?  Is it covered for accidental damage by any of these or perhaps another policy you have?  Could be well worth investigating.
