Kaiser 4 Posted September 6, 2011 How do you know, it's not a rep? I can tell you the names of much bigger stars, who wear reps. I'm curious, which bigger stars?
SeanusMaximus 0 Posted September 6, 2011 Rolex giving Prototypes to Federer doesn't sound convincing to me. I'd rather go with custom made or his own vintage. Ditto, far bigger ambassadors for Rolex out there!
SeanusMaximus 0 Posted September 6, 2011 For what it's worth, I met Roger a couple years ago at tournament in Cincinnati. Roger was wearing a GV Milgauss when I met him. I've followed his career since 2003. He and his wife (Mirka) are wearing a different Rolex pretty much every match. He wears his watch to the court, takes it off and puts it in his bag prior to playing, then immediately following the match (when he wins), he gets into his bag, puts the watch back on, then puts on a Nike hat. He makes it a point to touch his face and hair when he being interviewed on court, most likely to show his watch. He also wears his watch prominently in the press conferences. Also, he always practices with his watch on, this does not surprise me because even when he practices, he always has numerous cameras on him as well as larges crowds. Normally he wears a DateJust, Day-Date, Milgauss, and Daytona. I dont think I've ever seen him wear a Sub or GMT. He seems to enjoy the Day-Dates, so does his wife. stalker maybe? wat44 0 Posted September 6, 2011 I guess we'll all just have to wait! if its the right size, its vintage - if its bigger (40mm???) then new model? I wonder if theres pics of federa in other press conferences wearing another watch like a DD or something we can compare on his wrist
wat44 0 Posted September 6, 2011 this photo especially tells me that the watch is too big to be 6263...
Luthier 1 Posted September 6, 2011 How do you know, it's not a rep? I can tell you the names of much bigger stars, who wear reps. I'm curious, which bigger stars? Movie stars, rock stars...etc. What, Roger endorse WE now??? :P
Dendo 93 Posted September 6, 2011 Federer would be the right guy to prototype a new model with. Most of the Pros racquets are specially made for them - sometimes not even by the company that sponsors them - but they recolor and label it so it looks like the brand's racquet. Pro golfers have similar equipment. So a one off custom watch for the Fed is also possible. A bigger Daytona or a bigger Date-just. Both watches are great but too small nowadays for many men - so it might make sense.
DW-Watches 0 Posted September 7, 2011 I don't see crown guards, so I'm saying vintage
pamelo 0 Posted September 7, 2011 why should he pay for a rep when he can get a gen for free?
wat44 0 Posted September 7, 2011 forget the rep "idea" - its obviously not a rep - god knows why luth said that Roger is a SWISS professional tennis player who held the ATP number one position for a record 237 consecutive weeks rolex
Dendo 93 Posted September 7, 2011 Luth was joking. Federer does not even have to buy these watches.
Luthier 1 Posted September 7, 2011 Luth was joking. Federer does not even have to buy these watches. +1. I'm sure he even don't know what "replica" is.
andygt 0 Posted September 7, 2011 I still think it's something similar to the pic I posted, agreed probably not a custom mod more likely a prototype/preview of a new heritage line. Something along the lines of the Heritage Chrono I reckon. With a small amount of digging (not sure why Hodinkee didn't do this before posting the article wat quoted) I found this picture taken just before the press conference: Full size picture is here: http://washingtonexaminer.com/files/f25be0...067007a42_0.jpg If you zoom in on the watch it looks like the bracelet has polished mid links, solid end links and a modern daytona clasp (notice the raised logo on the lock):

wat44 0 Posted September 7, 2011 so the only other option is a vintage with a new bracelet??? that would be weird
solkryssare 109 Posted September 7, 2011 We know things they dont
solkryssare 109 Posted September 7, 2011 Or. It could be he change watches between playing and press conference.
andygt 0 Posted September 7, 2011 Solk is right - that Jake is clueless - he's posted pictures of obvious reps on his blog a few times without realising too. Can't see him changing watches - they go straight from the court into the press conference.
