Stiff rotor - not winding enough

Recommended Posts

Wirral_guy

Hi all

I have a 40mm 21j PAM, from Reg, that is my daily beater. Up until now it has been fine but now I find that the power reserve will run down during the day. Looking at it, the rotor moves but only slowly if I give it a swirl in my hand (the best I can describe it is it is like a soft-eject cd lid like movement)

Is there anything obvious I can do to get it back to normal operation? Is it likely to need a clean or oiling?

Thanks

Dave

Take the caseback off and see if the rotor screw is screwed too tight.

Hi, it's one of those that has a bearing in the middle, which the rotor revolves around, rather than a single screw.

This is a pic of the movement:

I've got one that the rotor actually stops if the watch is turned into certain position, maybe this will help me too

remove the rotor bro, and, make sure the center is pressed in VERY STRAIGHT.

i would bet this would take care of it.

looks like a seagull ST 2350 in there (or a repro of it) and they (ALL actually) need a rotor of perfect angle!

Thanks Mike

I will give it a go at the weekend - would be a shame to have it sitting in my watch box because of a little fault.

np bro, this is very common, and simply presing the center in FLAT can make a world of difference.

i use a chapstick tube, irs flat, soft enough that it wont hurt anything, and against a FLAT surface, it can reallu "true up" your angles on the rotor
