gorouk 0 Posted September 20, 2011 Hi everybody, I need a little help with my project. I read a lot of topics on this forum about 1675, and it inspires me to build my own. So I started to google pics to see the real piece and found a very special piece, the 16753. What I found very interesting was this very special nipple dial, so I decided to start here. I found one on eBay, and 10 days after the auction, I received this A bit of scratches and dust, but man, what a dial! Here is where I need your help. I'm asking help to continue my project. I'd like to find a great base to install this dial. What I'd like is a watch with SS case with holes on lugs, golden crown with twin lock sign, golden bezel, GMT black insert with golden numbers, tropic crystal, jubilee TT bracelet with the right clasp, good golden hands. On all the projects I found, builders were using an explorer, and bezels, inserts, etc. were coming from WSO. As I’m building a 16753, I need a golden bezel, and all they offer is 18k gold... I don't really want to spend 450$ on a bezel, so... I found this piece on Mary's section, it seems to be a right base to begin. I just have to change the bezel insert and crystal to get the perfect base for my project, what do you think? Thank you for your help and knowledge, Cam. no_one 0 Posted September 20, 2011 The reason for using that explorer is that it will accept a gen dial. The one you referenced will not. You'd be better off going the explorer route, buying a ss bezel and having it gold plated.
gorouk 0 Posted September 20, 2011 Thank you for your answer, helps me to avoid an axpansive mistake Do you know if a bezel assembly from another replica will fit?
Akira 0 Posted September 20, 2011 The "tiger eye" from Mary has the wrong specs and a wrong bezel. I know Rolexaddict made a TT 1675, which you can see on rwgforum.com He goldplated the WSO bezel though. 1655 is the way to go. #24-600-8 you can find on ebay

Thank you very much, I read his post, it's very interesting, a lot of informations. I'll try to contact him to know where he went for gold plating (wso bezel and 1655 crown). Do you think that a replica gold plated crown and bezel can fit? #24-600-8 you can find on ebay 170$? I know this is a gen crown, but that's more than what I paid for the dial... I think that the gold plating (or a replica crown already gold plated) would be cheaper

gorouk 0 Posted October 6, 2011 UPDATE I contacted RA for my project, we had a long discution about it. He is ok to help me and lives not so far, so we plan everything, and what to buy. The only problem for now is budget, so i'm getting pieces after pieces. here is the new aquisition, a gen gold crown + tube: I just ordered a 1655 to Josh, and i'm waiting for a crystal from Clark. Next step is getting a full bezel assembly (WSO), hands and bracelet. Then, I'll get a stainless steel bezel and the hands to a guy who's making gold platting. More to comme soon... gorouk 0 Posted October 12, 2011 UPDATE Clark crystal arrived last week and the 1655 "special" from Josh today On what RA told me, this is already a DG 3804B, this old 21.600 bph true GMT movement. Great gesture from Josh for the hands, I was scared not to find the right ones Next step is the WSO bezel, more to come...
gorouk 0 Posted November 8, 2011 UPDATE Simulation : I don't have the bezel right now, but the modder have one to adjust the plexi Guess who's did the job... I still have things to do: - buy a full bezel assembly - gold plating for bezel and hands (My modder will do the relume) - buy bracelet and case back (I still hesitate for the bracelet... jubilee or nato with gold parts or black teju or black croc or...?) More to comme soon...
solkryssare 109 Posted November 8, 2011 Nice progress Cant wait for the finished watch.
gorouk 0 Posted November 25, 2011 UPDATE new arrival : Hands were sent to a shop to be plated, and that's fucking amazing On the other hand, I'm a bit scared about the movement, I think I did a mistake when i removed the stem. According to RA, it may be a problem with the "keyless work". :( I'm gonna give him the hands for relume, and the movement for inspection. If it's broken, I'll order a new one to Cousin UK. :sh_h: Next step, the bezel assembly More to comme soon...
ww12345 0 Posted November 29, 2011 The keyless works shouldn't be any trouble to fix. If I had a nickel for every time I screwed up a keyless works, I could buy a gen 1675-3! Those hands look really good! It looks like you are going to have a really nice watch when you are all through.
gorouk 0 Posted December 6, 2011 UPDATE Movement fixed, hands relumed, small scratches on the dial removed, looks great on the case (sorry for dust on the plexi) More to come tomorrow...
