fe22ari 0 Posted October 3, 2011 Anyone got any ideas: Watch works fine so long as I am wearing it but stops after a few ours when put away, I often find it has stopped around the day/date change. Local watchsmith gave me a load of flummery about what it could be, changing wheels and allsorts. I reckon its something simple like mainspring not attached properly or just needs oiling? Oh, and it's a modified 21j.
prestigewatchco 2 Posted October 3, 2011 try winding it manually 20-30 times before you wear it some automatics never charge enough simply by wearing them once you give them a little power reserve they seem to work much better and can last 30-40 hours off the wrist

I picked it up and it started.
Luthier 1 Posted October 3, 2011 Maybe, mov't holder's screws need to be tightened up?
NFleischer 4,355 Posted October 3, 2011 Sounds like it needs service. But with 21J model better off getting a new one.

sconehead 5 Posted October 6, 2011 never worked on any 21j watches but that 'bit' reminds me of a hacking lever, if it is, I don't think it should be there...you contacted Mike as he'll probably know...

BTW "Sconehead" (later shortened to Scone) was my nickname at school!
rober100 0 Posted October 6, 2011 My 29j Daytona is lately stopping too each time I put it away for a few hours. It has being working ok the whole summer so I even thought it was the change in the weather but it is more probable that the movement is in fact quite crappy.
