tesmith2112 0 Posted October 10, 2011 Bought a DSSD watch that is suppose to be sapphire, but now I'm not so sure. This one took a minor bump/drag against a wall and has several scratches as a result. I have watches that have taken a lot more punishment than that. I have a couple of watches with scratched up bezels, but I've never had a scratched crystal. I've read about the water drop test, but I'm curious about other ways to confirm....? andygt 0 Posted October 10, 2011 Flick the crystal with your fingernail. If it makes a 'plink' sound it's not sapphire, if its a dull tap sound then it is.
Greenhat 0 Posted October 10, 2011 What ever you do ,don`t listen to anyone saying that tapping it with your finger nail will tell you if its Sapphire Originally Posted by Wisconsin Proud Depending on thickness and diameter of the crystal they might sound different so I wouldn't depend on sound as a proper method to figure this out. Wiz 0 Posted October 10, 2011 I would be surprised any if these granma' tricks would actually work, especially knowing crystals can be AR coated and of various thicknesses. +1 on OS and the diamond tester. Works just fine.

Wiz 0 Posted October 10, 2011 It`s all the Masculine and Feminine words Wiz, prehaps your understand Feminine words better ? What are you taking about? Masculine/Feminine only applies to "Anglais" in that last sentence, and you got it right. It's the rest of the sentence that is wrong.

We don't capitalize nationalities, and "embarassed" is not a French word. Or to fit more with what you were trying to say "Quand je lis ce que les gens ici écrivent, j'ai parfois honte d'être anglais."
