jeffw69 0 Posted November 6, 2011 Hi guys, I wanted to get some opinions on this watch, it is the full gold ceramic sub with blue dial. I don't have any gold watches and this one appeals to me for some reason. http://www.yourtrustytime.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=4357 I have a TT sub c with blue dial and I like that one alot. I've been wearing my DSSD lately. Thanks for looking, Jeff
Luthier 1 Posted November 6, 2011 What exactly opinion do you want, Jeff?
rc42 0 Posted November 6, 2011 All of the gold reps that I have bought have discoloured over a period of a couple of years and gone from yellow gold to rose or even more of a copper colour, and that's with minumal wear and careful cleaning after any handling. If you do wear them regularly, any scratches will clearly show the steel underneath so they really are just special occasion watches. The TT models are a better choice if you want a bit more 'bling' as they hide the scratches through the plating better, personally, I wouldn't bother with full gold plated rep again, even with the claims of a 'thick' plating its really not and they don't seem to be applied under ideal conditions which leads to the discolouration. The ceramic sub with blue dial in stainless steel is a stunning watch though, I've worn mine every day for over a year and it still gets coments, it has lots of bracelet scratches now but the ceramic and crystal are still perfect, its a really good 'beater'. jeffw69 0 Posted November 6, 2011 Sorry, just wondering if others thought it looks ok- the color of the gold, dial, etc. Also if anyone owns one similar, what are their thoughts.....
Aren 27 Posted November 7, 2011 If you like it then go for it. If a member has this model, it would be nice to see a wrist photo in natural light. I always find the dealer photos sterile. It is difficult to tell the actual colour. Hopefully you will get a member photo. All the best Jeff.
Luthier 1 Posted November 7, 2011 Jeff, Sub is a diver's watch, mean - it's a tool watch, so, full gold is kinda... bling-bling. I have TT Sub, wrapped one, and it's still like new for 4 years. And I have about 25 gold reps, not even one is discolored or look like the brass. All depend on the quality of plating. Nowadays plating on hi-quality replicas is very good, so, nothing to worry. But that Sub is too bling-bling...
jeffw69 0 Posted November 7, 2011 Thanks Luthier, I guess maybe one bling-bling in my collection would be okay.
