vintage seamaster 300

Recommended Posts

Dallas

My SM300 is now my favorite watch. I bought genuine Omega replacement case, dial and hands for it. I got a vintage Seamaster 565 movement to go in it. The movement is a work of art. It gains one second in four days and the dial hands and bezel glow like a torch.

Here are some picture.

This is a good way to get a great watch for a good price. I love the classic watches.

SM300 is a beautiful watch but what's with those photo's! Looks like they were taken with a 90s model digital camera while riding a mechanical bull! lol

I actually think the SM300 is better than a 5513. Now lets see if I get flamed.

But seriously, these old Omega 565s movements are pure works of art to look at, and they are great time keepers. The styling of the watch is also a true classic.

I have been playing with watches for awhile now. Started working on asian then ETA movements. Now I am not TOO scared to work on the high dollar movements. I did screw up the balance spring on my Tag 2892A2 movement. That nearly made me cry.

I forgot about the second hand pinion spring when I put the hands on this dial. Of course I bent it and the second hand stuttered like crazy. Had to pull the winding bridge off and fix it. Now she runs great.

I have practiced putting solid lugs on some asian omega cases. Now, I am thinking of making an homage RN SM300 with a replacement Omega case like this.

No, I shot them hand held with my sony alpha 55. I did not have a macro lens, so I had to use plus lenses on the filter threads. I should not have drank the coffee. :damnthecolonials:

Yes, no "coffee" before taking pictures, your hands were shaking.

Or use tripod.

Congratulations! The mid-500-series movements are the best Omega movements of all time, in my opinion, and the prettiest mass-produced automatics.

Very nice watch!

I have been thinking of building my own, but with no-date, the 165.024.

Where did you buy you case if i might ask?
