Sizes of movements

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this will already have been covered elsewhere but I can't see it on RWG2 and it doesn't appear to be here so I thought I'd ask, just in case it hasn't...

Apologies if it's already out there and I'm just missing it!

I was just wondering what the different movement sizes are, mainly because I'm thinking that it would be quite cool to swap out the A21J thing in the duplicate Parnis that I won unexpectedly at a bargain price, and swap in a smoother sweeping 28.8kbph movement. However, given they're all different diameters, depths, heights of the stems from the front/back...

Any pointers would be much appreciated! :)

Nope, you can get a hi beat 21J MVT. It is the same size as the 21.6 one, eleven and a half linge like most of our MVTs. So is the clone alltho the height of the clone may be different depending on the maker. A different MVT ring will usualy fix that minor problem.

The 21.6 are usualy DG2-8xx part #s and the high beats DG-38xx.

D'oh, I completely forgot about the high beat asian stuff - I fell into an 'only ETA and 7750/7753 are high beat' pattern of thought!

I have no idea what the movement is in the parnis so I will have to do some research and see if I could fit a high beat in there - I reckon I could, it looks like there's acres of space!

Ok, I was thinking about this at the weekend...

How much more expensive are the high beat DG-38xx movements?

If they're not that much more than the lower beat DG-28xx, why don't they just use them all the time?

I have a couple of watches that could do with a smoother sweep...

Cheers all :vomit:

Not all that much but we are talking China where every cent counts.

Why make a hammer drill with plastic gear set (useless but they do) when a metal gear set would add about 50 cents to the cost?

lol

Point taken...

Just seems annoying that Robert, for example, can't say to the factories to spend just a little bit more to get a 28.8 sweep on the bargain rollies that have come out recently, rather than leave them with 21.6 that is noticeable when you're looking for the tells :vomit:

The DG high beat movement is the 4813. Apparently it's hard to find in the high canon pin. At least according to AJoeSmith, who used to supply them to the forums. He said the factory is no longer producing the the high pin models.

On the other hand apparently Chris at Eurotimez still has them for sale. Cousins models will definitely not work for us.

Ajoe buys from my wholesaler. The reason there are no more of these is he bought them all and made a motza on-selling them!

Same with the supply of A7750s.

Have a looky here: http://www.labanda.com.au/Watch-Movements-...a-s2/prod0.html

Anything you need I will get at a markup to cover costs only as long as you arn't gunna make money from them. PM me for a price.

Yes KBH, that should have read DG-48xx The 38xx apear to be a high grade low beat. I will confirm this shortly when I source one and put it on the timer.

Size doesn't matter.

Explain that one first. Maybe it's just my dirty mind. Relating your post to the original had to do with movement size and beats per minute.

Obviously, my joke didn't work!

Unnnngh, looking at that link makes my head hurt lol

Too much choice!

I think the ST6D1 may be the movement in my BP that needs a good service / replacement, I'll have to measure the width of it tonight.

I'm confused by the hand sizes thing though! lol

I thought this would be a simple selection thing but clearly not!
