Andei3000 0 Posted September 7, 2009 First post over here, just finished the relume of my 187. I won't touch the subdial at 6, those numbers are way to tiny for my untrained and shaky hands. hello everyone andei
Member X 91 Posted September 7, 2009 Welcome aboard! Great first post - you've got some skills to relume that well!
KinCaidk 0 Posted September 7, 2009 Andei, that looks awesome! Where are you located? Edit: Where did the watch come from??
greg_r 82 Posted September 7, 2009 Greg, what movement there? What is the size? Great looking watch!!! Would you believe Quartz? It was incredibly cheap - bought it from Lawrence last year. Very well made and solid, though - even the strap is good (although I replaced the clasp, which was painfully uncomfortable). Size is 44mm but it wears bigger. One of the best cheapies I've bought. Andei3000 0 Posted September 7, 2009 thanks for the warm welcome, you just need the right tools and reluming is a piece of cake I even did the "Franzisco datewheel mod" by using a datewheel overlay printed on heavy paper (200gr), no worries by grinding the second datewheel down... Just use some distance holders (mine were thin wires) glue the overlay on top - finished shot was taken before doing the lume but with finished datewheel - you have to glue your eyes to the crystal to see that it's an self printed datewheel overlay. greg_r 82 Posted September 7, 2009 Nice job on the datewheel! I'll have to remember that trick
KinCaidk 0 Posted September 7, 2009 This is the only PAM that I really like! And I really hate all the other submersible variants. Do you do lume jobs??!
Andei3000 0 Posted September 7, 2009 If you want some grainy, not glossy, shaky and at all some inconsistent (depending on daily bases) work, yes I'll do a lumejob But don't expect anything you can't do, as I'm just a beginner. And you don't want to see my attempts on the sausage dials, you would get the same results if you'd feed a cow some lumepowder and let them s**t on the dial :) :) Andei

Andei3000 0 Posted September 7, 2009 (edited) These are the best attempts I could achieve in macroshooting. This one was easy to relume as the markers are raised. Edited September 7, 2009 by Andei3000

Andei3000 0 Posted September 7, 2009 yepp, Glowinc V10 in 10-15 micron size @kinkaid sorry I did'nt see you were asking where I got this watch from it was from a member over at the geek and the watch looked like this before: -standard hands set with too white lume -standard rep lume on the dial -chronograph hand too short too reach the chrono pin (had to lenghten it with the accupuncture and diabetes injector needle trick - man I love every single tutorial on the boards) -all other hands were to small to fit on the pins (widened them with a needle) -eta datewheel with the wrong font for this pam quite some McGyver experience on this one and this is even the beginning as I'm going to do a hardcore mod on the hopefully incoming 194 look out for my new adventures Andei
Member X 91 Posted September 7, 2009 Wow, that's some modding skills I'll be impressed with myself if I can actually just get a movement out of a case... lol

Massimo 53 Posted September 7, 2009 I'm still on my cheapie vintage Sub from Lawrence. I've never really got on with the Rolex cyclops which is why I prefer the SD, but that being a thicker case and glass it wears bigger on the wrist. Now that my vintage Sub is sans-cyclops but still Sub-slim, it's fast becoming one of my favourite watches. I forget where I read it but a post on one of the forums suggested using Rock 'n' Roll cycle chain lube on bracelets. It so happens I've been using that on my mountain bike for a couple of years but hadn't thought about using it on a watch. Tried it out last night and the results are excellent, so the Sub now feels that much more gen with its silky smooth bracelet. I got so excited I took some more photos to show off my beautifully scratched glass and bezel
