Scavolas 0 Posted December 13, 2011 So here is the noobest of the noob question, sorry if so dumb that hurts... I have a PAM Radiomir with a vintage brown sandwich dial and I have the idea to make it a sterile piece. Is it possible to remove the prints 'RADIOMIR PANERAI' and 'L SWISS L' without ruining the dial surface itself? If this is possible, I assume the rest is not so difficult by replacing the rep case with a sterile 47 mm case, keeping the movement and hands.
Cynikal.Mindset 1 Posted December 13, 2011 just buy a sterile homage...it would cost you less in the end hahaha...oh in any case you will not be removing the print from the dial without ruining the finish on the dial now
Scavolas 0 Posted December 13, 2011 (edited) Thanks, I was kinda expecting this answer... problem is, there no sterile/homage dial exists to that model, as far as I know. Talking about the PAM 373. (And no, I am not interested in that older attempt with a vintage look, I want exactly the look of the 373 without any prints on it.) Scavolas 0 Posted December 13, 2011 Thank you again, I will. The proper way of handling this idea would be to disassemble the watch taking off the dial and taking apart the sandwich, followed by a complete refinish with dark brown, perhaps a relume job once the sandwich is taken apart, and put back the dial, hands, and finally put it back to a sterile case. And since I have no idea how to do these all, this could be a hell-of-a job done by some expert modder. I may ask Kenny if he would be interested...

10:10 Watch Repair 1 Posted December 15, 2011 If it's not a matte dial you might be able to rub off the text with denatured alcohol and a Tamiya detail swab. I've done it "successfully" read unintentionally, before.
