New watch strap is too shiny

Recommended Posts

I ordered a cheapy dark blue strap off the 'bay to go on my white face/blue numbers Parnis, and it's turned up and looks decent quality - but it's very shiny indeed... <_<

Is there anything I can do to take some of the shine off it but not leave it looking tatty, sorry, 'vintaged' :) ? lol

I'm thinking white spirit or something but I don't want to ruin it completely! It just looks cheap being so shiny!

I made few of my shiny straps dull, using steel wool. Works perfectly.

Thanks for the tip! Will give it a go as I'm sure there's some in the garage somewhere...

Is that leather? If it is, you should be able to fix it, but man, it looks like those plastic shoes some military guys wear so they never have to shine their shoes....

LOL

Thanks for the tip :P

It's not quite that shiny but it's about halfway between the two I posted :)

I should have done pics yesterday really but forgot, d'oh.

Will have to try the steel wool thing - I didn't know if something like white spirit or acetone would take some shine off!
