Greg's timing is spot on. I've been looking for someone to report on these.

As usual, you make good choices, I make bad choices, OR I just have bad luck. I too was struck by the new Exployer II so I ordered the high end model as a compliment to my DSSD. It just arrived today and it ran a grand total of 2 minutes and 51 seconds! That great "Nickle Plated Swiss Eta 2836-2 Modified to Rolex Calibre 3187 Markings and Bridges, Automatic Movement, 25J, 28800bph" was just as dead as a Bourbon street special.

Your 21j "cheapie" rehaut is aligned, my expensive "1:1 Replication" was misaligned by half a minute. Also, I noticed that this watch does NOT have the coronet laser etched into the crystal. Is this correct?

UPDATE: 01/27/2012 Found loose screw in self wind mechanism. Runs great now.

I'm sure it will be fine - movements are a gamble, only a few have problems :)

Mine doesn't have the coronet either. No idea whether it's correct or not.

As a general rule, I would avoid the 'copy Rolex' movements. The cosmetic modifications tend to result in a less reliable movement than if you'd bought the standard Asian clone or Sellita option. Sometimes they're okay, sometimes they ain't. However, given that Rolex use closed casebacks, the movement isn't visible, so why bother - they'd never convince an expert anyhow.

Normally i would, only i really couldn't stop myself with this one. I've been waiting for the supposed 1:1 version since the gen was announced!!

I held back with the 21J version because there were a few obvious tells. (slimmer hands, bezel markings are different etc)

But when this one came out, i guess the heart wants what it wants.

Come on, you know how it is. ;)
