Pohoho 0 Posted January 26, 2012 (edited) Got this watch from a friend and my 5yr old son don't mind wearing it. Thought I do up some lume for him since he was very fascinated by the Superlume on my Getat Radiomir. But I'm level zero in terms of lume jobs and the watch only has 15 plus hour of power reserve, which may mean it will give it's last tick very soon. So I thought of a poor man's cheat lume: 3M Glow in the Dark Tape (which cost only a few bucks for a 1m roll). You also need a sharp cutter and scissors and tweeters for the job. Here's the dial that was cleaned up: For cutting: You will need to press down on the cutter to shear off a very thin strip of about 1mm, can't pull to cut as it just too thin to hold on it own. Further shear to small rectangle with the cutter. Separate the tape with a small screwdriver and transfer and tape for the minute markers. I added one more square for "12". The Real Challenge: Filling the gaps on the hands! The tape must somewhat sit in the gap or the second hand may get jammed while sweeping across the minute hand. Shearing with cutter can't work now as the very fine strip just wobble on its side. A sharp pair of scissors did the trick to trim it to hair's width. Getting it to the approximate width and length was all trial and error. I was lucky to get a "perfect" fit for the hour hand. Just drop it in and it homed. The minute "lume" was a bit too width at one end as you can see here, but sits low enough for the second to sweep by so I'm just leaving it that way: All it took me was less than an hour of concentration and fun. So here you go: A cheat lume that fast to fix up, cheap to install, fun to work on with lots of room for errors. PS: I still have a lot of Glow in the Dark Tape to spare, PM me if you like some, just pay postage by normal mail. Edited January 26, 2012 by Pohoho
