thedoccwc 0 Posted January 30, 2012 Hi all, One more member for the books. I happened upon this place after doing a bit of research pre-Christmas and thought it might be prudent to have a decent read of all manner of things before diving in and exposing myself as a complete and utter noob. As such, I imagine I'm merely days away from saying something stupid - which is better than the minutes it would have taken if I'd cracked on with posting back in December. Not so long ago, Panerai was a typo to me...now it's a devil, stalking my conscience and constantly chanting 'you will succumb' to me. However, I'm deeming my pathetic wrists to be too small to warrant such a beast - which is saving me from fully committing my bank balance to the endless Panerai pot of pleasure. For now, I might have to drop Reg a message...those 42mm POs look mighty tempting. Anyway, it's already been an education - and one which will, no doubt, continue. Crusader 0 Posted January 30, 2012 No wrist is too small for Panerai Welcome to the club, go ahead and contact Reg about Omega, you have to start somewhere
Cyril_Clunge 0 Posted January 30, 2012 Hello and welcome. Well done on doing the research, it definitely reduces the chances of being savaged by the razor sharp sarcasm employed by some around these parts. Note I said "reduces" not "eliminates"

Amit 72 Posted January 31, 2012 Hiya mate. Good choice on a PO and that from Reg. You will eventually want a PAM, start looking at the 111. As far as your first PAM you really cant go wrong in terms of quality, price and size.

thedoccwc 0 Posted January 31, 2012 There's plenty of smaller PAMs available, no worries. Welcome aboard!!! My PAM expertise is still a bit lacking - is that a 40mm vs 47mm comparison, or am I way off? In an ideal world they'd do a 40mm 111, but I might just have to succumb to the 111's 44mm goodness. Hiya mate. Good choice on a PO and that from Reg. You will eventually want a PAM, start looking at the 111. As far as your first PAM you really cant go wrong in terms of quality, price and size. Toro's beginner version 111 has caught my eye since the day he posted it...I think I'm going to stop myself from buying it by acquiring Reg's PO, and next month maybe grab a Noobmariner - in my mind, this is a sound strategy which will stop me buying PAMs. Welcome to the Sanatorium What size is your wrist? Nice to see the Panerai virus is as virulent as ever Around 6.3". If there was any muscle there, it'd be about 11.3", but there we go. Currently wear a gen Tag which was a present at least 10 years ago. I'm not actually sure what model it is, but I'm fairly certain it's nothing 'special' - I think it was around the £300 mark. That appears to be about 37-38mm and doesn't dominate my wrist, so I reckon I'm safe with the 42mm PO.
Gazillionaire 0 Posted January 31, 2012 You should be able to pull off a 44mm Pam with a 6.3" wrist no problem. Panerai also do 40mm models, but trust me you'd be fine with a 44mm.
thedoccwc 0 Posted February 1, 2012 We shall see - there aren't really any ADs within spitting distance here, so I'm relatively safe from wandering in and finding out what a 44mm will look like. I fear it'd be the downfall of my bank balance if I saw one and thought "YEAH!" One thing would then lead to another, I'd start to struggle with bills, E.On would chase after me relentlessly, I'd struggle at work because of the stress, mortgage repayments wouldn't happen, I'd have to sell my place, my girlfriend would leave me, I'd have a breakdown, get sacked from work and end up roaming the streets. But I tell you what, I'd have the best fucking rep watch collection of anyone who called a park bench home.
