Actually, I really like that one, even if it is rather small. And I kinda like your dial better, also.

Thanks all!

Because I've received a few PM's with regard to where I sourced and the financial set back;

The watch was a legacy piece from my father. He has two sons and two Rolex, a 1680 and the 6263. Provided in his will, my brother was to get the Sub and me the Daytona.

Because I found RWG in '04 which launched in me a keen interest in watches, my Dad decided to gift me the watch before the inevitable we all face. He said he wanted to enjoy giving it to me, not posthumously. It was an anniversary gift from my mother to him in '72. When she passed that same year he never again wore the watch. So.................

I did a good bit of research for insurance purposes and found this piece to be worth about 15-20K. It does have some bracelet damage (dented hollow midlink) and some minor scratches from normal wear on the crystal and clasp. No box, no papers, no history of Rolex service. One thing it does have going for it is a rather rare style of rivetted bracelet that was characteristic of UK market only issued Daytonas. My mother bought the watch in the British Virgin Islands. Not sure why Rolex did that but it boosts the watch's collectability.

On eBay I've seen pristine examples with all documentation and service records going upwards of 25-30K at auction. Not bad for my mother's initial investment of $300. She overpaid in '72 by about $50. Those BVI thieves! ;)

Hey ho to 1.1, you guys rock!

Dems, lovely watch and a great story/history to go with it. You back on the scene for good now?

@Col, I know which section this is, I was just trying to put doubts in KBH's mind...he was having none of it...a $140 rep just doesn't cut the mustard I guess... ;)

@KBH...YOU WIN...THIS TIME... :dogify:
