Strap suggestions for PAM 351?

Recommended Posts

jeffw69

Hi guys,

I was hoping to get your input and assistance here.

I received my long awaited 351 last week and of course would like to change out the strap.

The strap that I ordered is supposedly closest to gen, a dark brown.

Who makes a decent strap for this?

Here are pics of current strap, thanks!

Hmm - the gen strap is a lot darker than that one, if I recall.

Depends on how much you want to spend. At the lower end there are croco print straps from BOB (waccex.de) and Meyerhofer (I'm thinking of the Cartagena range, which are cheap but high quality and very convincing).

Panatime are worth a look too as they do some great OEM-style straps.

Great, I will check them out.

Another question, when looking at straps, I see 24/24, 26/26, 22/22.

How do I figure out what this needs?

the 351 uses a 24mm strap (at the lugs). The OEM one tapers to 22mm at the buckle so it's 24/22 you'll be wanting if you plan to stay close to gen.

By the way - as an example, this is a Meyerhofer Cartagena 24/22mm strap on my 390. It looks a bit closer to the gen colour than yours does, but admittedly it's kinda hard to tell from photos...

Jeff, I had Dan make one for my 351, which was included with the sale to powderfreak. Great quality and it looked awesome.

Are you 100 % sure you want aligator strap on it? Wouldn't you rather prefer soft, calf strap in tan maybe? :)

I like that chocolate one (third link) from panatime. They have a lot of good stuff as mentioned.

Gen gator can be pricey, whats the cost difference between the gen and croc grains?

If you want something OEM, one of those would be a good choice, also keep an eye on ebay for gen straps. Deals happen from time to time.

If you want custom, you could get a leather that compliments the dial, for example heres HWG's 6152 (and foot) and matching strap from me :)

Thanks guys.

Leaning towards the genuine gator $99 from panatime.

That third one, the chocolate is $34.99

Crusader, thanks for the suggestion. Yup, I would like gator or croc skin preferably.

Dan, your straps look awesome. Do you have strap material for a dark brown, tobacco or chocolate strap?

And do you do xl straps(130/80)?

Thanks again!

I have a ton of dark brown options. Of course I can do 130/80, I can cut your strap to whatever size you like.

So, I went with the chocolate croc XL strap from Panatime, also ordered deployant buckle, it arrived yesterday:

It was easy to attach using quick release buttons on 351, I will take some pics today.

By the way - as an example, this is a Meyerhofer Cartagena 24/22mm strap on my 390. It looks a bit closer to the gen colour than yours does, but admittedly it's kinda hard to tell from photos...

Greg that is pretty good, is it gen croc or embossed leather

It's embossed but is surprisingly convincing. They're great straps for the money.
