graman 2 Posted March 13, 2012 The Desk set experiment continues! For your consideration... I had a long, single timber blank, of which I wasn't sure of species. It was fairly large, so I marked it for a Cambridge, but found that I had enough to do a letter opener as well. I'm 90% sure the timber is maple, as it smells like maple syrup when it's on the lathe...otherwise, it could be cherry. The Cambridge is gold with rhodium highlights, and uses a schmidt rollerball, and the obligatory CA finish. The letter opener is also in gold to match (duh!) The desk set is a Murray river cyprus pine base (hard as nails) with camphor laurel uprights, with a matte finish in danish oil. Pricing: $200aud + pp fees & $35aud shipping by normal airmail.
