trailboss99 994 Posted April 5, 2012 This one caught my eye a few weeks back and for 85 bucks I thought why the hell not? It arrived a couple of days ago and it's a very nice watch for the money and an even better starting point for some vintage modding which will be happening at some point. It's a 21J of cause but if you insist the Swiss ETA is available for $205. One thing to note, the listing says sapphire crystal but it is of cause Perspex same as the gen. Here is a pic of the gen: And here is our rep: As you can see the dial is quite good. yes the date window is in the wrong place by a few mm but that's always going to be the case with either a 21j or ETA MVT in this watch. At life size (instead10x here on the page) of it's not that noticeable. If it bothers you that much get the ETA version. It is the no date, tritium dial model. The rest is remarkably good for the money. Case is OK, the crown guard is a little pronounced but if you are picky it could be fixed easily enough. Insert is good, the numbers are a little thick but the font is correct. Crown is very close, lume is a bit better than average rep lume, any brighter would be right on a vintage piece. The only thing it needs is some Pam strap tubes cut to size to mimic the solid bars that the NATO strap versions used. All in all for the bux I'm very happy and can't wait to get some age showing on this baby. The dust above is on the outside of the crystal BTW, not on the dial. And of cause a lume shot. Sorry it's a tad out of focus, some clown has my tripod. If you want one (and for $85 why not) the listing is here: http://www.silix-pri...roducts_id=4251 For those who either want the No date Tritium dial model with ETA it's here: http://www.silix-pri...roducts_id=1701 If the vintagising turns out good on this I just may sell it and get the no date me thinks. Member X 91 Posted April 5, 2012 Nice, I've always liked these MSpangle's is probably the ultimate 'rep' if you have a (much!) bigger budget!

amuthon 0 Posted April 5, 2012 Great watch for the money, bought both versions from Silix. I like to try different natos on these watches.... Here ist the eta: and the cheapo:
trailboss99 994 Posted April 5, 2012 Yeah it will be getting a better NATO. The supplied one is OK but I want one a bit more substantial. I have it on an old brown one I had lying around ATM but I'll get it a nice new 5 ring in black.
HWG 11 Posted April 5, 2012 cant go wrong for the money, looks great! cant wait to see the vintage process....

myaz 3 Posted April 5, 2012 This one looks nice too, kinda summer-style: huge marker @12. Bet you can read by it's glow at night. Love the stripes on the nato.
Arism 26 Posted April 5, 2012 Thanks for the review! Love this watch. This and a moonie are next on my list.
Dallas 0 Posted April 10, 2012 Not a bad replica. I have the gen date version on now. For the super picky. The crown should be longer and narrower. The bezel should be taller. The real case is curve on the sides and is polished on the top with longitudinally brushed sides. But again, good especially for the price.
T222 0 Posted April 24, 2012 How resistent to scratches is this "plexi plastic" glass? Amuthon, where did you get this beatifull stribet strap? It looks great on the 300! ;-) Cheers, Steffen.
KeNnY 29 Posted April 24, 2012 Very nice, now I want one, Thanks Col ! time to paint that second hand white !!!
teddy25 0 Posted April 28, 2012 Indeed a very nice watch. I also want to buy this one in high quality (ETA version without date). Any advice where to buy this watch? Can this watch be modifiefied with genuine dial or is this a different diameter than the Omega movement?
trailboss99 994 Posted April 28, 2012 I'm not sure on the dial but you can buy the ETA version from Silix http://www.silix-prime.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=115_150_190&products_id=1701 How resistent to scratches is this "plexi plastic" glass? Not very which is good since I'm about to scratch the hell out of it
teddy25 0 Posted April 28, 2012 Thanks for the url but I cannot see that webpage. Strange :(
greg_r 81 Posted April 28, 2012 That's really nice, Col. For some reason I find myself liking vintage Omegas far more than the modern ones. Great pickup for the dough!
trailboss99 994 Posted April 29, 2012 Thanks for the url but I cannot see that webpage. Strange :( Sorry, the URL has changed in the last few days: http://www.silix-pri...roducts_id=1701
teddy25 0 Posted April 29, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the updated URL. Sometimes I see articles on the web about silix and they say silix are scammers. Is this true? or are they also trusted dealers? Edited April 29, 2012 by teddy25
trailboss99 994 Posted July 16, 2012 Silix are trusted dealers mate, no scammers. Don't believe everything you read on the internetz.
jakeagusta 0 Posted August 5, 2012 Lovely watch ! I have been looking at several different vintage Omega's. Has anyone got a near correct Vintage 300 ? Some of these replicas have been reported to have a genuine Omega movement fitted ? Anybody got any experience of this ? Thanks one and all
trailboss99 994 Posted August 5, 2012 J&W probably do one but that's going to be a 2k+ watch.
James. 4 Posted August 5, 2012 Hey Col, you stuck this badboy on mesh yet? Was looking at this today actually, considering getting one for a franken project. Then went over to the 'bay and found some interesting stuff, amongst other things; http://www.ebay.com....984.m1438.l2649 check out this guys store, heaps of gen dials, bezels, cases etc.
trailboss99 994 Posted August 5, 2012 Yeah, watchco, just be careful of his pricing, the guy is a bit of a pirate. Waiting to see what happens with a possible wholesale mesh supplier for the shop mate.
James. 4 Posted August 5, 2012 he's down in Melb too, so good for shipping, bad for the hip pocket though. Some mesh in the shop would be tops. IMO the best are the ones with mesh end links rather then the tubs... just sayin'
davylloyd 0 Posted August 5, 2012 Two in a similar vein on the Silix specials at the mo. This one for $50 - and this one for $35 - I don't know how many inaccuracies these have, but for that kind of money....... How do they turn a profit at these prices? I wonder why the other TD's don't do anything like this?
