Omega speedmaster (moonwatch) upgrade

Recommended Posts

teddy25

My first replica watch was an Omega speedmaster (moonwatch). I bought it from a local supplier before I found this great forum. The watch I received was poor finished and I wanted to make it as good as possible with polishing and replacement parts.

The polishing by the deployment clasp, chrono buttons, strap side and bezel ring was very poor. Another problem was an start stop issue with the chronograph. The dial was poor to.

I did the following modificiations:

- New genuine Omega bezel with inlay (140 euro)

- New replica dial from watchinternational (thanks Mary and Rochest!) (20 euro)

- New genuine hesalite Omega plexiglass (35 euro)

- Removed some steel on the inside of the back cover to fix the start stop issues

- Complete ~20 hour sanding, reshaping and polish job on all parts.

- Ultrasonic cleaning of all parts

- Sealed and lubricated all parts

- Enjoying the watch :)

The watch before modifications. Poor subdials and bezel ring + inlay

There is now a big difference on the case where the strap connects to the case. It is now shiny instead of a coarse finish

The last thing I want to do is reluming with real superluminova C3 and repairing the chronograph.

It seems to be a bad design in the ST19 movement that after ~20 resets the hand doesn't come back to zero (even when you reset only between 11 and 1 to reduce the force on the hand).

Many thanks to KeNnY and other members for there help during the modifications of my watch.

Thanks for watching my photo 's

Hi teddy, can I ask where you got the watch with the correct engraved bridge? The only one I've found with that bridge is a 50th anniversary edition one, which has the wrong bezel and (for me) wrong dial!
