Rolex Sub YG - problem with the gold.

Recommended Posts

baxter

HI all, just received my first purchase from a trusted dealer, a Yellow gold submariner ( not everyone's cup of tea i know but i've never had a full gold watch and its an itch i just had to scratch)

The transaction was smooth and the watch is of excellent quality ( i paid for the best available and have had Gens before and was really impressed with what i received for the money paid )

i have one problem with this watch : the gold on the case is a completely different shade to the gold on the strap.

( i have images which show the problem but am struggling to work out how to attach so any tips would be welcome )p1010731

The strap is a nice pale gold colour but the watch case is a much deeper yellow colour which rather detracts from the overall look of the watch.

I did receive QC pictures but the colour discrepancy was not evident from the images.

does any one have any experience of this or advice.

Thanks

Jez.

Make some pics and show us what are you talking about, pics are always welcome.

You can ask your dealer for refund or replacement, if youre not happy with it.

In the introduction section, there is a thread on posting pics.

Basically, you have to upload to photobucket or imageshack.

It's quite easy...

Go to imageshack.us > click ''browse'' to find a photo you want to upload > choose ''rezise'' to resize it to 800x600px > click Upload > copy ''Forum Code'' after the pic is uploaded and paste it here :)

Oh, that really is fucked up.

You didn't catch that on the QC pics?

jeff - no i had to take it from various angles to get it to show up - it wasn't evident on the QC pics.

I would say that although the difference is noticeable in the flesh these photos make it look worse than it actually is.

It's a real shame because the watch is overall really nice.

Luthier - i thought maybe i should contact him and see what his response is before putting his name out there. Not sure as to the etiquette on this.

As you can see whilst the problem is probably evident from the qc images you could be forgiven for making allowances for lighting, angle and colour on a photograph. I reiterate that the problem is not as bad as it is shown on my photos.

I've sent a mail to the dealer and will post back to let you know the outcome. Thanks for your help everyone.

As i said apart from the problem with the plating, the watch is of excellent quality and the transaction was smooth so although disappointing for a first transaction in the world of reps i'm not put off, on the contrary i'm quite excited by the overall quality i received and will no doubt be developing a nasty little top quality rep addiction !!

As an aside i have a few gen watches, is it the sort of thing people are interested in seeing on here,if so i can do some photos.

cheers all

jez.

I could be wrong, but the bracelet looks as if it is rose gold......

what did you pay?

dingle - definitely a different colour but i dont think it's rose gold its paler but still has a yellowish tone, especially the middle polished links. The biggest difference is in the brushed links.

I paid $ 338.00 + $35.00 delivery.
