bsl355 0 Posted May 14, 2012 I am working with my first DSN case which does not need movement tabs. The issue I am having is that when I put the 6497 in the movement holder there is a lot of play and the movement slides back and forth once it is in the case. Does anyone know how the movement "locks" into the holder? Thanks --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?em54d5
Member X 91 Posted May 15, 2012 You could email DSN and ask to buy a movement holder that will fit the case (send a picture to make it clear) and a 6497 movement
str8 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I think you'll need a movement ring ...
bsl355 0 Posted May 15, 2012 I have a movement ring which he sent me. The 6497 fit into it but it is not snug. There is enough play that the movement easily spins and is only stopped by the stem. Thanks --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?0ygjvi
Member X 91 Posted May 15, 2012 Sorry, I misunderstood you! I am not sure what to suggest :( Is there a way you can add some extra material to the movement ring at certain points, to wedge the movement in place?
10:10 Watch Repair 1 Posted May 15, 2012 back in the old days when common watches were made by an OEM process, watchmakers cut small brass shims to make up for any slack. Now, you can also buy moldable putty (invented for fitting quartz movements I am told) from some supply houses.
bsl355 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Thanks for the help. I will try wedging something in like. Is the putty you are referring to the blue rodico putty used for cleaning? I was going to try it but was not sure if it would eventually dry out. Thanks again! --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?mm31u0
Member X 91 Posted May 16, 2012 You just need to make sure that whatever you use is secure and not going to fall into the movement if you bash the watch while wearing it! If you glue something in place, use epoxy instead of superglue as superglue fumes affect the dial.
