DW Daytonas

DW cases are still available here:

DW cases

I'm not sure about what's needed to convert them to 7750 or whether that's a whole different case.

Nice find KBH but at those prices I'd rather go thru J&W me thinks. Phong is Da Bomb!

The watch you bought however is a screaming bargin and I hate you! Black bezel BTW, the chrome is tacky IMO.

I thought it was me...

"Didn't I just read this?"

It is a sign of old age: repeating yourself. When I launch into a story now I have to preface it with, "Stop me if you've heard this before..."

I thought about re-editing that last one and starting off with: "Stop me if you've heard this before..."

This watch now functions like a hand wind movement similar to the rep PAMs?

Does this make this Daytona more reliable and does the chrono functions still work?

The dial looks fantastic for seconds at 9, is there a sub dial spacing issue still? :D

Where can I get one of these now????

I just picked up a DW vintage Daytona with GEN ETA 7750 movement for an excellent price from a member on RWG. For less that $300 I got DW case with gen crown/tube and gen pushers. Sent it off to Speedy for repair and servicing and now it's working like a charm. He also removed all the winding gears so it's fully manual wind now.

It should be very reliable since all the winding mechanism is taken out. ETA makes a 7750 that is hand wind, forget which number it is. Maybe 7751? All chrono functions work.

There is a slight difference in the sub-dials, but almost imperceptible unless they are side by side. Find another thread with pictures of both and you'll see.

And as far as I know, SpinMaster is still making them. You'll also see them available every now and then, especially on the other RWG (RWGForum.com).

I happen to be wearing mine today. Just a coincidence as it came back from the Spa in the mail today. The stem was just a hair too short so Speedy G replaced it out of the kindness of his heart. What a guy! Didn't charge me a dime.

Is it a hand wind movement in SpinMaster's DW Vintage Daytona?

The Vintage Daytonas that SpinMaster makes, what is A7760? are there issues with reliability in the long term?

What is the quality of the bracelet clasp and are the cases David Wong?

How does the SpinMaster watch compare against the gen?

Spin Master DW Vintage Daytona

Thanks

Yes.

7760 is the hand wind Eta chrono movement. If you want reliability get the Swiss Eta. His 7750 is and A7750 converted to 7760. Basically it is a 7750 with the autowind module taken off. Reliable? It is what it is.

Bracelet and clasp are identical to the gen. I've got both and couldn't tell the difference between the two.

Who's ever seen a vintage Daytona in the wild?

Is changing the bezel easy task to do?

Can't see the silver bezel properly but is the spacing on btwn UNIT and PER on "UNITS PER HOUR" better on the black bezel than silver bezel?

Can't decide which bezel I like best? Leaning towards the silver.

Yes, changing bezel is pretty easy, particularly if you have a crystal press.

I have no idea which spacing is better and hope I never get that anal. You must be a dealer's worst nightmare. :irish_dance:

That means its not easy if you don't have any specialist watch tools?

I assumed its not easy otherwise it would come apart too easily in normal usage. :irish_dance:

You can pry it off with a knife blade. Pushing the bezel back on is about the same as on a DJ. Just need something round that's the same size and tap it down with a small hammer or something. It also holds the crystal in place so unless the crystal is glued down it has a tendency to come off with the bezel some times.

In fact, Spin overhauls ALL the 6263s he builds...and as it is well known, any A7750, or for that matter, A7760, if properly overhauled / service will run as well as an ETA7750. People till this day have this misconception about A7750s being a crapshoot... To quote a perfect example, ziggy recently did a wonderful review on his personal PAM188 which he last serviced 4 years ago (bear in mind that the 188 has also a tricompax layout, c/w with date module)... Ah shucks, here is the link anyway: http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/94466-servic...year-old-a7750/

And here's my Spin Le-vintagised PN 6263 which i am so proud of:

Those are very cool! IMO, the oyster bracelet is the way to go. The jubilee is far too light.

is it not the 'done' thing if you fit a Modern Sub Oyster bracelet?

Gen owners are always fitting different bracelets to gen rollies...

That's the original model Oyster bracelet that came with the old Daytonas. Also, they are 19mm so any old Rolex bracelet doesn't fit.

How are these 'vintagized'?

is it done with a UV bulb?

@KBH have you had any experience using a UV bulb to 'age' the patina on a watch - I recall reading a post where you mentioned about this?

Cheers

PD

It will only work on the lume and there's really no lume to speak of on these.

Also since these models aren't that old, you don't see too many beat up models.
