mad dawg 0 Posted November 14, 2009 I though to share my PAM family history with the like minded. This story has plenty of pain and suffering, so please tell me this is normal in the rep collecting hobby. I can't help but tinker with these watches, in the past 6 months, I have learnt to relume hands, change outs dials and movements, sticky ball unscrew cases, pop out crystals, pull hands, grease gaskets and modify cogs. I have learnt who DSN, Jackson, Tat and Jandew are, to Paypal and Moneybook, and my receptionist thinks I am buying weekly doses of Viagra from China. Anyway, to the watches, from left to right 1. Tat's 1950 watch with Tat superlume. I have had this watch for about a week and I love it. It is a big watch but, the uncluttered face and smooth contours give a understated presence. I guess all Fiddy owners have know this for years. Surprisingly it came with a very soft and thick strap (not shown); this strap is good but no where near Tat's premium offerings. The strap shown is from Jackson, it is ok but I will buy a better one from Tat. BTW the superlume is great and glows all night. 2. Another Tat watch, Ti case and auto. I bought this because I wanted a brown dial and thought the auto would make a great daily watch. Well, the auto is reminds me of a angle grinder and it needs a manual wind every couple of days. I've had the case back back off and it still makes the noise. If I could find a swiss movement I would drop one in (I wonder what DSN uses?). Mods to this, relume hands and tips of sausage markers. The strap is from Tat and the best strap I own. 3. This was a 183 from Puretime and I reckon is good value. It is the first rep I bought. As you can see it is now a 210, courtesy of a DSN dial and hands. The DSN dial is wonderful soft grey and I can see why he is a rep legend. To install, I followed a Frisco tutorial and cut down the seconds pin. The current strap is a Jackson $15 job (bought it for a laff). The original strap from the fiddy is marked for this watch, the black strap white stitch, grey dial combo is sweet. This watch got me into reps and I will always love the radiomir shape. 4. Mini fiddy basket case. This was supposed to be a stealth project. The original watch cam from Jackson. I was experimenting with dark lume when the crystal spontaneously shattered. After some reading I found this was a common occurrence with mini fiddies, so I have abandoned this case. I will plan to replace this with a Rambo style PVD luminor from Tat (using this strap.), possibly stealth. Thanks for reading, gotta go to bed now MD

greg_r 81 Posted November 14, 2009 A nice little collection there and a great writeup. I really should start working on my watches too, but other than some minor work on cg pins I've not yet found the time. I should probably also find the time to do a shoot of all my PAMs together - I've got 7 at present and having recently sold my Egi, there's probably another couple to come very shortly. greg_r 81 Posted November 16, 2009 hehe - they're all on here in the Panerai and homage sections, just not together. I gotta find an opportunity to take a photo of them together (which will be out-of-date as soon as I take it as I have another on the way ) I'll try to get around to it this weekend.
