Project Timex "Duo-Glo" upgrade

Recommended Posts

Pohoho

Got some Deep Blue Lume from Watch Lume over at RWI recently and plunged into this project for my son. Gareth from Watch Lume was very accomodating to do a cash and carry for me with some nice discount. He is knowledgeable about his product and the luming process.

All of my son's favorite items in one watch; Mercedes hands and blue lume whereever possible. Here are the before and after shots:

Original Timex Indiglo:

New Strap and Bezel blued and lumed with nail polish and varnish, swopped in diver hands:

Some quick lessons for me:

1) mix the lume powder and binder in a ceramic container. I did it in an oil dish and tried to clean off the excess with clear solvent which contains 50% Acetone. It melted and dull the surface of the oil dish.

2) Working with a visor with magnifier lens at 7x power provides so much ease and does not strain the eyes as much as a loupe.

I will be happy to do this for anyone game for a lume up on their no critical pieces. Got quite a bit of lume compound left from this project.
