Replacement crown for vintage Omega

Recommended Posts

MrKeith

Hi I'm a newbie and am very impressed by the team's expertise. I'm really into reps but have only just started to understand the tremendous detail and experience you guys share.

I have been blessed with my father's yellow gold vintage Omega (1930's) but some idiot replaced the crown with a boring flat plated substitute somewhere along the time line. I'm sure that originally there would have been a solid gold crown perhaps with Omega motif. Can you guys advise how I could locate the correct crown design and if it would be possible to make such a part, even if it has to be gold plated to keep costs down?

Many thanks

MrKeith

Hello and welcome, I'd suggest you identify the watch accurately then do a Google image search for the model.

You may then be able to identify the crown design and pick one up on the 'bay, you'll just need to find a watch-smith to fit it if you can't do it yourself.

Some others may have a better idea, but that's how I'd approach it......or you could ask over at Watchuseek.

Phew that was quick! I'll see if I can find the watch number- there's nothing external- so I'll have to be careful- don't want any springs springing!

Many thanks

Ofrei has a listing of Omega crowns, You may be able to ID it from there. http://www.ofrei.com/page_147.html

Once you get a model# you will get good info at Cousins UK. http://www.cousinsuk.com/default.aspx

You will probably also need to be sure that the stem thread is correct for the crown you get.
