greg_r 81 Posted November 26, 2009 I had a 'Big Egiziano' for a few days - which was just long enough to realise that at 60mm excluding CG it was just that little bit too big for me to actually wear. However, I loved the look and rather miss the watch (I sold it to Oscar who I hope is enjoying it!). I've been contemplating buying DSN's Egi, which is undersized at 52mm, figuring I'd get away with that without too much trouble. Then this caught my eye (photo from Mark Wang's site): This one certainly looks the part (albeit it's the modern style rather than vintage, but I can live with that). More to the point, though, is that it's a cheapie and is only 47mm (which is about the perfect watch size for me). I'm not usually tempted by fantasy reps, but this is a rare exception - whaddya think?
Fiddo 0 Posted November 26, 2009 I like the looks of it. It has a nice clean look. Since it's a cheapie, I would go for it and give it a shot.
spboudart 0 Posted November 26, 2009 Was hesitating for an 'Egi' too! That's a nice size! I didn't go to Mark's site, How much is he selling those? What do you mean by cheapies: No sapphire, 21j?
Member X 91 Posted November 26, 2009 How cheap is cheap? lol
greg_r 81 Posted November 26, 2009 It's $148 if you use his $20 off coupon. 21j movement, mineral crystal I think. I think I'm going to order one soon - I loved the Egi, just couldn't wear it. This'll hold me for a while until I decide whether to do the DSN version...
greg_r 81 Posted November 26, 2009 Oh hell. I ordered it. Call it an early birthday present to myself...
JohnG 41 Posted November 27, 2009 What makes it modern vs. vintage? The bezel shape? Also, if you sterilize it, it won't matter that it is "fantasy" - I prefer sterile if it fantasy, that way there is no contradiction since it isn't pretending to be a Panerai.... That is tempting to me too....

That is tempting to me too.... The only real difference is the colour of the numerals (orange instead of ivory). This is the 'vintage-style' look (albeit in the 60mm version) I'm not going to sterilise this one as I particularly like the dial - it's the whole appeal of the watch for me. There is also a PVD version of this which would be a perfect candidate for sterilisation though - just imagine this with stealth lume... Awesome! Anyhow, I had an email from Mark this morning - invoice is paid and he'll be shipping it out to me within the next day or two. Hopefully should have it in a couple of weeks. Though I'm not a huge guy, I'm not the smallest either, so I can wear it, but it just looks nuts...definitely a niche watch...I might just keep it for the sentemental value of it...being awesome and all.... Then again seeing guys with brietlings and big russian divers look at this and put their heads down is priceless.

It didn't look too bad on me, but I just found it awkwardly heavy and out of balance. I would never have worn it, so figured it might as well go to someone who would get some use out of it. Here's a wrist shot of the one I had:
