Help, how do I get this Radiomir clone open?

Recommended Posts

Massimo

I've fallen at the first hurdle with my Radiomir Homage project. I can't get the back off this sucker with the tools I have which are 1) one of those rubber balls that I've used to open my Rolex reps and 2) an adjustable thingumy with two pins that has been OK with screw in cases with the recess "keys" for the pins. Neither seem suitable for this, and I'm not sure what I do need. Help please!

Thanks :D

C4?

Black & Decker?

:D

There are proper case back removers for these things, but they're tough to find - especially in the size used for Radiomirs and 47mm PAMs. Col's your man - if anyone can come up with a case back opener for this, he's the guy.

Try a wadded up ball of Gorilla Tape or REAL Scotch Duct Tape.

Haven't had it fail me yet :D

Sounds inexpensive - I like it!

Still curious to know what the proper tool is, but I'm happy to give that one a go, thanks ;)

Gaff should work.

If not, you will need one of THESE

Blu-tak is NOT a good replacment for Rodico. Blu-tak is sticky and contains oils that can contamiate a MVT, stain dials and lume. A lump of Rodico is under 6 bucks in the shop, about the same price as BT.

Go over to Rep Geek and check out Lumen's Tutorial. I think he used water pump pliers. It worked and was hysterical.

That is a horibile way to treat a pair of verniers, should work tho if the back aint to tight.

I've used those as well when I can't find the correct die. Most times I just use rubber ball though or the universal if I can find it

Well, I didn't have any proper gaffa tape, but had a go with what I had, reassured that it should actually unscrew rather than some other bizarre fastening. No good though, my tape was slipping. I decided that one problem I had was keeping hold of the case, which kept slipping round in my hand. In the end I washed the grease off the case back and the ball to get a better contact, then got a cloth to hold the case and flexed my meagre muscles, using more force than I liked on my beloved watch... Got it!

Thanks again, guys.
