richardm1142 0 Posted September 15, 2012 OK I'm a taking the back off the watch virgin, and a trifle nervous. Just recieved my new IWC Doppel from Toro and all was perfect on arrival. Wore the watch this afternoon to a football match and spent some time clapping, cheering and generaly throwing my arms around. Realised the watch had stopped. Loose rotor sound from within the case. Arrived home and thought ok, what the hell, let's take a look. Opened case, removed rotor cover and the rotor itself was lying limp inside, with apparently no screw securing it. Can't find any trace of said securing screw within case. Watch wont wind from crown. Would it most likely be screw is lying, buried deep, stopping the action? Or is there the possibility it was never there? Any advice much appreciated Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

richardm1142 0 Posted September 15, 2012 Thanks for coming back so quick No rattles so if it's in there, it is jammed The crown will definately not rotate in one direction when in the handwind position. richardm1142 0 Posted September 15, 2012 When I (very, very, very gently) rotate the crown clockwise in the handwind position, the gear circled starts to move then jams. The crown rotates freely when rotated anti clockwise. In the day/date adjust and hand adjust positions it's fine. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Gave the mechanism a couple of gentle taps and out came the bastarding screw and before I could even say Fu....... the mechanism was off and running. Simples to return to a together state and the world is all beautiful again. Thanks for your support gentlemen, I'm off for a quiet drink to steady the nerves.
