erang 0 Posted January 15, 2010 Hi all, Could you please help me understand what exactly is a swan neck? I thought it was a 6497 mechanism with a "swan like" bridge. The reason I'm asking is that I am ready to place an order for a PAM111 and some of the offers I got included a "no swan neck" mechanism. Thanks, Eran

greg_r 81 Posted January 15, 2010 This is a swan-neck regulator (albeit this particular one isn't from a Panerai...).

greg_r 81 Posted January 15, 2010 People are nuts about the swan neck. I don't understand it's mystique. It's only that the gen PAMs have 'em... Where the swan-neck reg is functional (it isn't always), it does make ultra-fine adjustment that bit easier, so they tell me, but there's no real benefit to the end user...
