Rats 0 Posted January 16, 2010 It would appear that the Russian politicians have plenty of bucks just like all politicians throughout the world. I hope this link works. http://englishrussia.com/?p=5681#more-5681

onzenuub 309 Posted January 16, 2010 Patek Sky Moon Tourbillon: Two Units Made Each Year & We Found One of Them We (and many others) have often said Patek Philippe is perhaps the most exceptional watch brand on the planet. They were the first brand to have the audacity to charge $20,000 for an uncomplicated, stainless steel watch. They did it, they're still doing it, and people are still paying it. While many people strive to own a Patek in their lifetime (although, you never actually own a Patek, right?) what does the brand itself strive for? To put it simply, they strive to produce watches like the Sky Moon Tourbillon. The Sky Moon Tourbillon (ref 5002) is the most complicated wristwatch Patek has ever produced, it is also their foray into double-faced watches. It features: ■Mechanical manually wound movement ■Caliber R TO 27 QR SID LU CL ■Minute repeater with tourbillon escapement ■Chime with two “cathedral“ gongs activated by a slide piece in the case ■Front side: Perpetual calendar with retrograde date hand ■ Hours and minutes of mean solar time ■ Day, month, leap year by hands ■ Moon age ■ Crown at 4 o'clock: setting of the time and winding ■ Opaline-white dial with embossed Calatrava cross motif, gold applied Roman numerals ■ 9 hands ■Reverse side: sidereal time, sky chart, phase and orbit of the Moon ■ Crown at 8 o'clock (24-hour scale): correction of sky/moon indications ■ Case is humidity and dust protected only (not water resistant) Yes, it's very complicated, and yes it is very rare. While they do still make the Sky Moon, production is limited to only two units per year. When a Sky Moon comes up for auction, it is the guaranteed headliner. When watch-lover John Mayer was interviewed in the NY Times about his collection (which does include a Sky Moon), this is what he said "There's no real retail for it, because it's so difficult to get. You're not showing off your material wealth, you're showing off your knowledge". Granted, no one that isn't really into watches would know about this particular model. Even though it does make headlines on those ubiquitous "luxury" sites, at only two units per year, this watch is still very much under the radar. "So what is the point of all this?" You're probably thinking. If it is impossible to get, why are we even talking about it. Well it is impossible to get, but we've actually tracked one down here in New York, and actually at the best price we've seen. Sokobe, here in mid-town, has a rose gold version of the 5002 for sale at $1,239,000. You may remember Sokobe as the guys who also had that amazing Jaeger-LeCoultre Gyrotourbillon 1 a few weeks back. They are fast becoming a hot-bed of ultra high-end watches watches here in the city, definitely a fun place to check out if you are in the market. Of course, the Sky Moon we have found is brand new, with original boxes, papers and everything you'd want. This is one of those rare situations where you are better off buying this watch now than waiting for it to come to auction. Recent sale prices for this reference have been as high as $1.49million, and as money comes pouring back into the pockets of watch lovers around the world, we wouldn't be surprise if the Sky Moon climbed even higher into the atmosphere. auswatcher 0 Posted January 18, 2010 Ahhh the Russians What would we do without them skimming the cream off the newly boiled free market milk!!! Then again, the western polly's have been skimming for years....for their "tea" of course. Bastards I want all my GST back!!!!
dingle 57 Posted January 18, 2010 SkyMoon is nice watch. this thing is sweet. A grail watch for some I suppose.
NFleischer 4,355 Posted January 18, 2010 sorry that link didn't work too well for me. but i wouldn't be surprised to see super rich Russian business men/gangsters wearing expensive watches. Vacheron also makes some super expensive complications well into the millions. of course we're only talking about the watches; alot of brands pile on the bling for alot of $$ such as Hublot.
