greg_r 81 Posted November 7, 2012 Just bought this and it has instantly become one of my all-time favourite watches. It's a gen Victorinox Swiss Army watch - 45mm on a bracelet with handwind Unitas 6498. Basically, what happened is that the board bought one of these as the Grand Prize for our forthcoming birthday bash (which starts in a few days btw), but once I saw it in real life, I liked it so much I ended up having to buy one for myself. List is £890. The build quality of this watch is superb and belies the fact that this is still very much a mid-priced gen. To be honest, it makes me wonder even more how Panerai can justify the cost of, say, the 111 which runs basically the same movement (albeit the subdial at 9 6497 version rather than the 6498 here with secs @ 6) The bracelet is one of the nicest I've worn, with a butterfly clasp and generally a very solid feel to it. My only slight criticism is that the section of the clasp that flips over at the centre is a bit overly stiff to open at present, but that should loosen a little with wear. The watch is 45mm but wears bigger than, say, a Radiomir. It has very much the same wrist presence as a Breit SOH on mesh - to the extent that it has much reduced my longing for a gen SOH. Yes, it's THAT nice. Enough drivel - here's some pics (that really don't do this thing any justice at all, but there ya go). Crespo 0 Posted January 13, 2013 I have a Chrono classic as a daily and absolutely love it. Victorinox are hugely under rated and give immense bang for buck. My Chrono is built like a tank and if it was an auto with a fancy name it would probably cost around 1k instead of the 140 I paid for it new on eBay.
