My collection so far..gens & reps

Recommended Posts

graman

Hey all,

Thought I'd put up my collection.

All in various states of repair, but all working.

Some rep, some gen.

Omega Grand Prix. This was my Grandfathers watch...serviced a couple of years ago...keeps perfect time, and ticks at about 3 on the richter scale.

omegasm1960v2.jpg

omegasm1960.jpg

1960 Omega seamaster.

Belonged to my Dad, who is incredibly hard on watches...had it restored and wore every day for several years.

Now is my primary dress watch.

seikoworldtime.jpg

seikoworldtime2.jpg

1964 Seiko World time. Refurbished...all original, but still needing work.

Missing bezel and inner bezel isn't rotating...if anyone knows where I can find one for a 6117-6410 movement, I'd be very grateful.

Also belonged to my Dad...lost the bezel in an engine bay.

tissot1.jpg

1698 Tissot Seastar 7.

Again...my Dad...this was my first watch, which i wore from 3rd grade through primary school

It was buggered, but kept great time...still does.

omegasmp.jpg

Omega SMP Bond - Rep...given to my by I bloke I work with who went swimming with it on, crown unscrewed.

Has a miyota movement in it...bought one from Ofrei and whacked it in..keeps great time.

Also polished out the deep scratches in the crystal with a dremel and some Autosol.

Needs a new bezel insert..will repair in time...also keen to re-lume....lume lasts about 30 seconds on this.

Been a great educator...to tinker with.

Pam 127 - Bought this in a market in Chinatown in KL when in Malaysia last year.

Keeps great time.

My son Dropped it in my bathroom one day...I nearly killed him

bpamfrt.jpg

Dropped a Davidsen Crystal in it, but need AR.

Also keen to re-lume, but waiting on a good tutorial...don't want to bugger it up.

Pam 212...I love this watch, and wear it most days...Present from my Brother for my birthday last year.....

He's a generous bugger.

Wishlist now consists of: :lolcina:

IWC Spitfire Chrono Laureus

IWC Big Pilot

IWC Ingy with swiss eta

IWC flieger chrono

IWC St Exupery utc

Brietling SOSF in black - Z series

Vacheron Constantin Malte chrono

IWC portuguese minute repeater in black.

Fantasy

IWC traditional...love the Ingy, Pilot watch and Aquatimer...would love to see reps.

Lange 1 if I could ever find one that's decent.

That's enough to keep me poor for years.

That's one of the reasons the SM and SS apealed to me. I wish I could find the watch my dad wore for the first forty years of his watch wearing life. It's somwhere . . .

Thanks mate...yeah...I make them with my Dad (yes, he's still with us!)

Watch stands, Boxes, Pens....I'll do some shots and put them up.

He's been teaching me how to make pens...it's been great.

For 30 years he restored cars, but hates the smell of grease and petrol.

Now, he's really happy. He makes some small bits and pieces and the occasional piece of furniture...

The garage at his place is the size of a small house, and now smells like different kinds of sawdust.

You can really tell when he's been turning Camphor Laurel or Olive....

Heh...I wish...no it's an Asian 6497....Great movement...keeps brilliant time, but no swan neck.

People are facinated with the movement if I take it off...they expect to see a steel caseback...some even ask where the battery goes....(cue rolleyes)

But a 6497 has a real soul...you can see it breathing through the balance spring.

It's a perfect production system...a good factory will make what's required, when it's required and in the right amount.

A good watch movement will do the same.

Perfect artistry.

The machine is powered (the mainspring) and can run as fast or slow as the escapement (customer) will allow it to.

Beautiful.

I'm happy to hear that your child survived the broken crystal. I remember when you posted that on RWG1.

Beautiful design, and well made. Good taste.

Oh, yes, nothing can be compared with smell of wood, I know it well.

Please, make good shots of stands, it's really inspiring, and much better than boxes.
