ChuckG 0 Posted November 24, 2012 Hi everyone, ChuckG here, new to this forum and pulling the trigger on a 44mm bronze fiddy from Tat. I took a good hour to read on this forum before choosing Tat as a dealer. Sure he seems to be the slowest of the pack but on the other part, it look like he produced the watches with the highest quality for the price. Judging by the pics I would even say that he probably got the best overall ''finition'' (yeah i'm a frenchie) on his watches. The level of customization of his products is impressive and the website is very well done so I decided to give it a try. Let's see how much time it will take to get my order here. Christmas is coming so I don't expect to get it next week. I will keep you guys update with details through the process and will post pics once the watch arrived here. On the watch... I know that bronze is an atypical color for that type of watch and that's exactly the reason why I took this color. I want something different with a ''warm'' color for the winter. I matched it with a vintage type wooden brown strap with beige stitch, black dial and bronze numerals. I think this watch will be the perfect embodiement of the old school/new school trend that is currently going on in the watch's world today. Why I give a try on reps... I currently owned several fine timepieces (Tissot, Perrelet and Beaume & Mercier) and realized that even I pay several thousand for these, I keep having some problems with them at time and need to spend several hundreds a year to maintain them in top notch condition. I want to see how long I will be able to keep a rep without having problem with it. Since the main fonctions of a watch is to give you time and style, I will judge if its really worthy to spend 2000$ on a genuine swiss timepiece instead of paying 200$ on a well made rep/homage. More to come...
guami007 0 Posted November 24, 2012 Welcome. Nice choice but just to be clear, the case is not bronze. A few members over at RWI have purchased this case and have determined that the case is probably SS with some baked on substance that gives it a bronze look. Either way, it's a nice watch and will probably age nicely.
gB. 0 Posted November 24, 2012 Interested to see what you think of the Getat "bronze" as I don't recall anyone else posting about it here. I would be a little skeptical though that it's made of a real bronze alloy but probably a high grade brass given the recent scene coming from Chinese sourced material in this arena. Several gen manufacturers have had to recall their first run "bronze" cases due to Chinese suppliers really providing a brass alloy instead. Getat's could be bronze, but my money would be on brass TBO.

Balad1 0 Posted November 24, 2012 I looked at Getat's Bronze watch; nice looking for sure but plated. Case: diameter 44 mm new mini fiddy, AISI 316L brushed steel with polished bezel / PVD Matte Black / Bronze with crown guard.
greg_r 81 Posted November 24, 2012 It's a very pretty watch although I too doubt that it's actually bronze. Still, at that price, it's very appealing...

JohnPilot 1 Posted November 25, 2012 (edited) I ordered the "bronze" Getat a month ago and now its in the HonkKongSnailmail. Its a stainless steel case with a light coffeebrown PVD coating. I will tell how it looks in real. Only thing I don't like the auto movement. Edited November 25, 2012 by JohnPilot

Balad1 0 Posted November 25, 2012 It looks REALLY sweet.... Member GBOGH is the expert on this watch and turned me on to it. I became interested in it when I saw how he modded his with the vintage look, amazing. I bought one with his input and am in the process of trying to duplicate his effort. ChuckG 0 Posted November 25, 2012 It was crystal clear to me that it couldnt be ''real'' bronze at that price. My guess was on PVD too and spboudart seem to confirm this. Looks really great, I dont regret my choice!
