Super rep Santos???

Recommended Posts

yawn

Found this on puretime website:

http://www.puretime.co/product/santos-100-tt-on-leather-strap-gen-parts-eta2892/

Cost a whopping 2.8k, and interestingly enough the remark says 'Supplier of this watch stated most parts on this watch are genuine.'

I sent email to them asking which parts are gen/rep. and I want to hear what you guys think about this rep. Good enough to be called super rep? or Meh rep? or I rip you cash hard rep?

There's also a SS only version of this for a bit less. They've been around for quite a while. Yes, it's basically gen - gen movement, case, etc. Silverspeed is the guy to talk to as he owns one - his review is in this very subforum, in fact: http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=4021

True - it's cosmetically very close to gen (at least until you take the back off). This is mine:

i m reading your post on repgeek :D hows your santos? so basically the difference is the movement? and strangly, it was listed on puretime on Nov 2011 and you guys had lots of conversations about this watch back in 2010. would it be possible its a new version? I notice the gap difference between 9 and 10, any other giveaways you can tell?

My Santos is still as new.

There are a few differences between the "Ultimate" and "1:1" Santos aside from the movement. For instance the bezel screws on the "Ultimate" are too round, the shape of the crown guard is different and so on....2 different watches from different makers basically. Mind you the differences are minimal, and not worth the premium

:D already asked for both models, waiting for response now.

No, this is the later one, I think they first appeared in late 2010, early 2011. I bought mine in about March 2011. FWIW they were always a little hard to get hold of and I don't know what the current availability is like...

Yes lugwidth is 23mm for the Santos 100. $490 for a gen Santos strap is very steep..............I'd look for an aftermarket one, like a HKtan strap

maybe the most obvious tell for rep watches are their straps.

Not this one. The rep strap is very good on mine. The only tell is the clasp. Interestingly mine is the same as Greg's but my bezel screws seem to be flatter and have a thinner slot.

If you want to spend a good amount of $ for a good strap have a look at APB straps, they cost less then the gen strap and much better quality
