Stem unwinding inside watch when setting the time..

Recommended Posts

Hi!!

Total newbee at this(and swedish) so bare with me!!

I bought two used PAM reps and they both have 21J Seagull movements... Great looking watches!!

now to the not so fun part.. On one of them the stem(i think its called, the pin that goes from the crown in to the watch) unwinds when i tries to set the time.. Turning the crown clockwise (hands backwards) works but it doesent really help because i need to change the date too...

Is there any easy fix?..

Easy fix. Loctite will do the trick

Buy the appropriate loctite, dip the screw ends and screw it back into the crown. Allow it to dry and you're done.

Just to unscrew the crown/stem til it comes out of the watch, dip the tip in Loctite and screw it back in?..

Since i don't know what is going to happend when i unscrew it totally i ask first... So nothing is coming loose or falling apart inside when removing the stem?

21j movement are bomb proof! haha! Don't quote me on that.

  1. Try to remove the entire stem (with crown) out from the movement.
  2. Then unscrew the stem from the crown
  3. Dip the end with a tiny loctite
  4. screw the stem back into the crown
  5. Push the stem back into the movement

Job is done.

its not the crown/knob thats loose/unwinds.. its the stem(steel-pin) that goes into the watch that unscrews inside the watch then i try to set the time(screws the crown anticlockwise)

Oh! Sorry didn't read properly! It's 4:49am here. Perhaps time to go to the bed after a heavy drink and accidentally sold my watch at drunk prices! Good night! Hope someone can help you! Or you can consider swap with a new movement!

Unfortunately, you probably must send it to someone who can fix it for you.
