SteveA 308 Posted March 7, 2013 Just got a vintage "Reid Tynesider" pocket watch which doesnt work as it is wound to the point it wont go any further.Taking the caseback off I see "Vertex Revue" "K.B" SER NO 3020488. The movement is stamped VW swiss made,15 jewels, there is nothing apparently broken stuck or loose inside. I think what I have is an imported swiss movt ,assembled by Vertex Watch Co of Newbury circa 1936,assembled for Reid and Sons jewellers Newcastle. But that is all amateur Detective work. Can anyone shed any light on what it is or what the problem may be and in reality is it worth getting it repaied at a cost of £150 upwards ?

trailboss99 994 Posted March 7, 2013 Not worth repairing at that price unless it has sentimental value. Most Swiss PW MVTs of that age from these unknown brands are crap. It was the Americans who made the good stuff.
