greg_r 83 Posted April 5, 2010 Yup - airmail is not only the most economical, but also the safest.
hunter 0 Posted April 5, 2010 Airmail... is that through the USPS?
greg_r 83 Posted April 5, 2010 I'm from the UK, so don't really know the USPS from a hole in the ground :snatch: but I would imagine so, yes

AllergyDoc 40 Posted April 5, 2010 They'll make you seal the package with gummed taped, which is good; that way no can open it and reseal it. Costs about $17 with insurance--pretty cheap. My local PO is small and will wrap the package for me. Probably because I'm so handsome and they're all female. But that's just my guess.
hunter 0 Posted April 7, 2010 USPS website says no watches can be sent to China....why?
KBH 7 Posted April 7, 2010 USPS website says no watches can be sent to China....why? Ignore that. It's because they don't insure jewelry and watches. If it gets lost or stolen you're out of luck. Regular airmail is what Josh requests, for CN Customs reasons. That last couple I've had to send back have only been about 7 dollars.
dmisgod 0 Posted April 7, 2010 forget insurance dude, wrap the item in two packages, and inside and outside one, fly it air-mail, no stops in hong-kong or whatever, and all will be well.
KBH 7 Posted April 7, 2010 By the way, I go to a small local branch PO and the woman at the counter usually fills out my Customs form. I just tell her it's a watch being sent for repair and value of less than $25. She's never said anything about it.
hunter 0 Posted April 7, 2010 I just mailed it. Jeez it was only $7, although it would have been double that or more to go Priority where you get a tracking number.
hunter 0 Posted April 14, 2010 (edited) Ok, it was cheap however now thinking I messed up by not shipping with some tracking. I may not see that watch get to it's final destination. Edited April 14, 2010 by hunter
hunter 0 Posted April 19, 2010 Well I shipped it on April 7 and as of today it still hasn't arrived in China. Anyone know how long it typically takes?
greg_r 83 Posted April 19, 2010 Last time I shipped something back to Josh, it took almost a month to get there.
hunter 0 Posted April 19, 2010 Well I did a dumb thing and didn't opt to ship using a tracking number - it wasn't to save money, I just wasn't thinking.
greg_r 83 Posted April 19, 2010 airmail tracking isn't terribly reliable anyhow - once it gets into China, you'll have no idea what happens to it. I wouldn't worry - it should get through without problems, but it'll sit in Chinese customs for quite some time before they release it.
P_Diddy 0 Posted April 27, 2010 Anyone know the following? what happens with registered airmail sent to China from UK? Is there a time limit for the China Postal service to attempt delivery? how many times will they attempt delivery? if they can't deliver it what happens to the parcel? Is there a time limit? Do they send it back to UK sender? Does UK sender incur a charge for the parcel being sent back to UK? cheers PD
