What is this on the side of some PAM case?

I was wondering what the button looking thing that is on the of some panerai cases. And if the real gen panerai has the same button thingy. Thanks. I have a daylight Pam 250 otw and it has it. Does the gen have that button too?

Thanks

To set the date ...

Oh great! I learned something new! Does the gens also have this feature?

At first that is what i thought but looked a bit odd for a helium valve

On some of these, you need a special tool to set the date. Others need a fine pin to push the inner button. I had problems with setting a date until Reg gave me the answer - my tool was too big. (first time I've ever had this problem) but with a pin it worked fine

Oic that's good to know. Because my next question was how does it work? Should be common sense but will know more when the watch arrives
