GC 4,511 Posted April 15, 2010 Love your pictures. How do you get that black background? Thank you KBH, I appreciate it very much. The black background is achived with a "Black Box", similar to a light box but exactly the opposite. After trying light boxes and never being happy with the results I built the black box. It's my own design and allows me to control the light and shadows that I try to achive in my shots, kind of studio-esq-ish.

MikeMcNair 0 Posted March 9, 2011 why are the crowns on the crystal SOOOOO easy to see on the subs? my DSSD is like impossible to see. its there, but dammit its hard to see. like this... edit: i can NOT BELIEVE THIS, but i finally caught the crown on the crystal!!! i was trying to take a pic to illustrate how invisible it is, and i see it!!!! GC 4,511 Posted March 9, 2011 why are the crowns on the crystal SOOOOO easy to see on the subs? my DSSD is like impossible to see. its there, but dammit its hard to see. Mike, i have two theories regarding the etched crown... #1 on older versions the crown was actually more pronounced. They have, over time, become more and more Gen like and smaller/less pronounced. #2 especially on the DSSD, due to the curved crystal, it is much harder to see as opposed to the flat crystal on the sub where it is easier to see. tah 0 Posted March 12, 2011 Why on the crystal "coronet" picture do I see two crowns? One in the silver and one in the blue......
Luthier 1 Posted March 12, 2011 Why on the crystal "coronet" picture do I see two crowns? One in the silver and one in the blue...... People call it "reflection"...
tah 0 Posted March 12, 2011 (edited) People call it "reflection"... Well, if that's what I think it is then people are wrong. Shouldn't it be called a "shadow" :ninja: Now that I look harder it's one or the other. A shadow of the coronet on the silver or a reflection from the silver back to the dial. Guess it would depend upon light direction? Edited March 12, 2011 by tah
