How should I clean a spring loaded crown

Recommended Posts

Drhulee

I've got three or four palp&T48-like spring loaded crowns that need cleaning. I was thinking about tossing them into the ultrasonic, but thought maybe that wasn't the best idea for the spring-loaded mechanism.

Any advice?

soak in denatured petroleum or gas, I use jetA1 (jet aircraft gas) to remove dirt from little parts with springs inside like crowns

Thanks, I'll give that a try with one of them and see how it works out.

aceton work also, but could be abrasive if you are not sure of the material composition.

For exemple, I soak Chinese movement parts in aceton to check if they have gen jewels (synthetic rubies) or plastic.... as aceton will eat most of "plastic" jewels...
