Pihlippe 1,288 Posted May 16, 2013 Got the opportunity to purchase this, from this forum eminent member seclark007. Everything was going superb until the package arrived at customs. Then the problems began, one can say. After 10 days with letters, emails and a phone call I received the watch today! And it is very nice!! There are two remaining mods I however want to do and parts are already ordered. It is the FFF solid caseback an a C3 lumed bezel insert. Thanks S Some pictures taken just now

fatarms 7,779 Posted May 16, 2013 That looks pretty slick. Does the bezel insert have a clear coating of plastic over it? It almost looks like it does in a couple of the pics.

Higs 73 Posted May 16, 2013 Nice... slightly different dial but it looks a lot like the one I've just bought..... I have the dial already and was sourcing all the other bits when I got the chance to buy one for less than the total of the parts.

SSTEEL 0 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Stunning timepiece for sure. Whats the history behind this Seiko Fifty-Five-Fathoms model? EDIT, so its a Blancpain Branded watch with Seiko movement? Damn, $10k for some of the gens for these. Edited May 16, 2013 by SSTEEL
Higs 73 Posted May 16, 2013 Stunning timepiece for sure. Whats the history behind this Seiko Fifty-Five-Fathoms model? short version.... Seiko release one of their 'Five' models that looks a bit like a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. Some watch enthusiasts started making parts that when swapped with original made it look more like the BPFF. So.... they are referred to as Fifty Five Fathoms as a nod to both the Fifty Fathoms and the Seiko Five. They're not 'reps' as such as the FFF is clearly different to the BPFF. It aims to be 'in the style of' rather than 'as close as possible to'.

Higs 73 Posted May 17, 2013 How to change the bezel insert easiest way,you know? A bit nervous about doing this myself, as a nooob I believe you pop the bezel off and push the insert out from behind. http://www.sixty40.plus.com/007to009.html
