You need more depth of field and set the focus just in front of the crystal. Shoot with a smaller aperture. TDK said he would shoot some photos at 32. I assume you're shooting in manual mode.

You need to put a white card in front of the dial Sam, or bounce more light onto them, for your first attempts at shooting, lay your watches flat, until you've mastered focusing and control of DOF, if yo look at your first shots of the DSSD and GMT in your earlier post, there is more detail shown.

Is this your new camera?

@AD

I'd love to hear TDK's thoughts on this, you don't have him on tape, do you?

TTK would sometimes shoot at apertures of from f18 to f40, which gave extreme DOF and sharpness right across different focal planes, as you can see in these shots.

That's right! He said f/40. With a macro lens you really need that to get the depth he got. And he used an old Pentax DSLR.

You're not really from Fort Bragg are you?

Then your local time isn't 7:47 PM! You rascal.

No. No Kiev. Too much trouble to scan medium format and no need for that kind of quality for Internet.

It was a 6.0 MP Pentax. :lol:
